Retractable feature allows the step to be stowed until needed. Can be bolted-on or welded-on to trucks or trailers.

Seems to be well built and has a spring loaded lock, but it only works with a dual rear wheel truck, it sticks out 6 inches from the side of my single rear wheel truck

I ordered the Stainless version hoping i could avoid any long term rusting and keep it looking good long term. Unfortunately when I unpacked it, I was disappointed with the finish. It was bent, likely from shipping with the poor packaging. (It was just in a cardboard box, with no extra Styrofoam or other packaging) Also there was rust around some of the welds, and a green oxidization around large parts of it.As for the positives, it was very sturdy and robust. I have no doubt it could handle it's weight rating.For my application I decided to return it. If you're not concerned about the finish it is a functionally good product.

Disregard reviews about ladder being less than solid. That's just ridiculous. Those reviews must obviously be based on poor fasteners that were used or installed on a less than solid surface!This is a heavy duty ladder and has NO give! NONE! Its super heavy and with the 4 bolts I used to install on my work truck, it feels as if it were welded. You may need a 2nd person to hold the ladder in place while you mark/drill the mounting locations due to its weight. Looks deceiving in the pics.Besides that, this ladder makes life easy to get in and out of the high raised truck platform.Bought a 2nd one for the other side of the truck.

This product came with no documentation, not even the name of the vendor. Without instructions it is a mystery how this product would work. It appears to have no lock down mechanism, meaning the steps would swing out from under the user when climbing into the truck. It seems more like a Cirque de Soleil prop than a truck step for my wife. I don't know for sure, since all I have to go on is the picture. I have contacted Buyers Products Tech Support and I will update when I hear back from them.

...I like that the steps are retractable, but I seriously doubt they can hold 400# as proclaimed by seller...I weigh 160 fully clothed and it feels less than sturdy...so, dont plan on using to place heavy items on the topshelf of your Backpack truck box.
