The genetic uniformity of the Ginkgo suggests that even ancient naturalized plants that are growing in China were planted and preserved over 1000 years ago, rather than in naturally occurring populations. Though the Ginkgo has been spread through cultivation all over the world due to its health benefits, there is little case, and no findings, for naturally occurring populations that have survived. The leaves of this tree are two-lobed and fan-shaped, making them unique and distinctive. In the fall, they turn a beautiful golden color which is short lived as once leaf drop starts to occur, it will be finished in a matter of days. The Bark of the Ginkgo is pale grey, and is very easily bruised and damaged. After 20 years of growth, this bonsai can produce cones and false flowers. When Ginkgo is kept as a bonsai, it rarely develops fruit, which is a bonus considering that the fruit’s outer covering gives off a nasty scent due to butanoic acid. Extremely hearty and fascinating, the Ginkgo Biloba is a perfect addition to any bonsai lover’s garden.
Each live plant is shipped with the Phytosanitary Certificate as required by the USDA.

I got this because we had a ginkgo tree in our backyard at our old house. Someone told me it was the only one in town aside from the much smaller one at the botanical gardens. It's very nice and, as I said, I haven't killed it yet. You really need to mind the water (get a spritz bottle). Somewhat troubling that there's no drain but I guess that's what bonsai need. Since it's still alive I can say this is perhaps a good starter bonsai for a novice.

So I'm admittedly no expert, but this is just a stick. No leaves or branches or anything.. I guess I'm a little confused? We'll give it a solid go and see if it miraculously sprouts something (anything!) before the return window closes but I don't have much hope..

This is part of an ancient tree. It's so pretty and came very well protected. I'm really happy to have this wonderful tree. It has a slight fragrance, which is very nice.

I was very surprised how large and full this ginkgo was when it arrived at my home, but it was healthy and thriving so I put it directly in my sunroom to recover from the long trip. Already past a week and it's gotten quite a few new leaves and is super green! It's loving the rainfall over here in the southwest, and gets lots of gentle morning sun sitting next to my miniature fig tree. I'm very pleased with this specimen! I may consider buying another as a companion to this one!

This is my third bonsai in less than 3 months. Not only are they healthy and right on point with what’s advertised but the price is crazy good. I have purchased from other shops and the trees are puny and diseased. THIS SHOP HAS HEALTHY TREES. THE SIZE IS RIGHT O. WITH WHATS ADVERTISED. HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDFor those on the fence. Upon arrival, the pot was all busted up. The tree doesn't look the healthiest and does NOT look like a bonsai. Very disappointed the pot arrived like this. I had to repot it as soon as I got it. Will NOT order from this company again!!

I love it, but I really think it should have come with a book for each type of tree OR advice on which book may be best to buy. Otherwise. It came VERY well packed, looks amazing!, I am very happy with it!

The tree is beautiful! The packaging was a pioneer in simplicity and function - it was excellent! The tree came through nearly 100% perfect! It is in a nice fired Bonsai planter appropriate for the need and view. It has a nice layer of small stones for protection from bugs or style (both work). I don't know the gender, don't think it is possible to tell before it matures, if Bonsai Ginkgo trees ever bear fruit. All in all it is very nice and nicer than I expected. The price was reasonable for such an emerald gem of a living fossil. I get another just so they can have a like friend! Many thanks, Joseph
