I run my old hand auger with a battery drill with a keyless chuck. The chuck loosens up on a regular basis and this auger adapter disc keeps me from losing the ice auger down the hole.

Had to reorder after it showed up with nothing but the plastic disc. One side of the product package was torn wide open as was the top of the shipping package. The replacement was exactly the same but the shipping package was stronger and everything arrived scattered inside. As for the product itself, wish Iād had one of these years ago, I love ice fishing but hate the workout from an auger.

Doesnāt seem like itās .72 inches. Thereās a lot of wobble and shake that can cause damage. The bit had enough force behind it to loosen the chuck on my hammer drill and fall out, which also shaved a small amount of metal off of the bit. If it had a snug fit in in my .75 inch auger bit it would work perfectly. If the .72 in measurement is to keep it universal, they need to offer a sleeve to fit .75 snug or a choice of different diameter components.

Background:- Used with a $35 dollar 8" ice auger from Cabelas (don't remember the make, but has shaver blades, and no centering pin)- Used with Ryobi brushless cordless hammerdrill (P1813, with regular 18V+ 4aH battery, not the new HP battery)Bought this to see if I could convert my hand auger into a cordless auger. I fish on the weekends with the kids, so my needs are to drill 6 to 12 holes in an afternoon. Happy to say that this adapter did a very adequate job, even with an admittedly underpowered cordless drill. With the Ryobi I got to 40 holes on one charge with the 4aH battery, on 18" of ice. The adapter does the job - there is a tiny bit of play as the bit is slightly too small for the auger, but I pad it with a few wraps of black tape and it's fine (not perfect, but good enough). I did have one instance of the auger coming loose, and the plate safety did it's job. I'm glad I tried it out before springing $300 for a K-Drill or similar, as it does the trick for what I need. Would buy again.

I am looking forward to giving this a go as soon as winter arrives. Tried to make my own ice drill adapter last winter, and that didn't do so well for balance and smoothness. Spun this around with my drill head in my DeWalt, and it spins so smooth. The shield has a secure snap ring to stay in place. That is a grand improvement and removes the worry of dropping the auger into the lake. Will try to remember to follow up with a report on how this worked later this winter.

Unit works well. Quality is pretty good, especially for the price. I used it for two days straight without any problems. So far so good. I didn't have any problems with the adapter falling out of my drill chuck, but I feel much better knowing if it does the stopper disk will keep my auger from sinking to the bottom of the lake.
