I'm using this, along with a different "hook to the bumper" device (I have a custom bumper, so I'm not buying and using the plate that they sell.) I've only taken my 2014 jeep 4 door wrangler out once with this setup and it was a test run, but everything seems well set up.

A lot better than my Alpha first gen. It's lighter and has non-binding latches. One thing surprising was the price swing. I first saw it on Amazon for $900 something and decided I didn't need it yet, so I waited to purchase. When I was ready to buy, the price shot up to $1200 something, which is about MSRP. I procrastinated until a week before my trip and luckily the price dropped to $900 again.

This was an awesome product but we found out our car is 4wd and we couldn't use this specific item so we had to return it.

I’ve owned 3 of these tow bars but this is the first aluminum model. MUCH easier to work with! One of the nicest things about Blue Ox is when you remove the bar and attachment posts from the car’s base plate, you can barely tell there is a tow bar attachment on the car. Other brands look pretty ugly with all the remaining hardware. My only complaint was that the large bolts that allow the arms to swivel were so tight, I could barely move them. After slightly loosening them it is much better. Still a great product!

The Ascent is about 8# lighter than my old Blue Ox that I purchased in 2014. The best feature is that the tow bars are non-binding, so very easy to unhook. This is the main reason I bought the new model, I got tired of trying to unhook the old style tow bars with binding arms. The old binding tow bars required that the tow be aligned dead straight with the motorhome and not on a downhill slope. Lord help you if you had to unhook on a curving road, it required 2 people, 1 to unhook and 1 to jockey the tow vehicle to release the tow bars. The docking is much easier also. I used the old model for over 125,000 miles to tow my Subaru to every state plus Alaska and it was nearly indestructible and is still usable. The Ascent appears to be much the same quality of construction, I expect it will last as long as I care to use it.
