The Blazer GT8000 Big Shot butane torch is a refillable, gas torch with a brass frame nozzle, and attachable base. The torch creates a precise flame, emitting from a nozzle head, allowing direct heat application to an object. It is used for detailed purposes such as brazing, plumbing, soldering, jewelry making, and culinary, dental and lab applications.

The GT8000 has an anti-flare, brass frame nozzle, for safety and flame control. Its design is intended for a low blow-out rate, when held in various positions, or where access is difficult, or space is limited. Its head is angled and it comes with an attachable, tabletop base for hands-free work. It features a gas-flow adjustment dial to control flame length.

The torch houses a piezoelectric ignition system, which is based on a pressurized molecular reaction, and requires no electrical connection. Piezoelectric energy occurs when the trigger is activated, releasing a small, spring-loaded internal hammer that strikes a crystal, producing a spark and resulting in gas flame ignition.

With a maximum flame temperature of 2,500 degrees F, the GT8000 has a continuous burn time of approximately 35 minutes, at maximum fuel volume, and has a 35-gram gas capacity. The torch has an angled head, and its flame range is 1.25 to 5.0 inches. It has a safety component that offers manual lock of the ignition, when not in use. It measures 7.5 (l) x 5.25 (w) x 2.0 (d) inches, weighs 12.0 ounces and has a black body finish. This product is intended strictly for use in professional and industrial environments. In accordance with federal regulations, home use of this product is prohibited.

Since 1985, Blazer Products has created an array of professional and industrial tools and equipment. Located in Farmingdale, NY, the company manufactures a variety of micro torches and ultrasonic cleaners. Blazer Products is known worldwide for its original micro torch products.

The GT8000 operates with a standard butane canister (sold separately).

I use this reuglarly in the kitchen, outside with the barbeque and occasionally in my workshop. Easy to light and control the flame size. Doesn't seem to use much butane. It's been great. If I had to I would buy it again (too bad the price has almost doubled over the last 6 years)

Love this torch, it’s great for making silver jewellery as it can solder bigger pieces.

I’ve used this multiple times every day for the past 5 years and it still works like it’s perfect condition, well worth spending the extra dollar rather than getting a cheap $20 torch.

Its hands down the best torch you'll ever find anywhere. All others stop working after a month or 2 and none get as hot. It works for any job u can imagine and if u use it for smoking it's great because u can use it daily for YEARS! literally every day for years. The only time I need to replace it is when I lose it or someone "borrows" it... I don't even know what comes in @nd place because it's so far behind it doesn't even matter. Happy torching! Cheers

March 20234 years old and still works like the day I got it. It is run every day for at least 2 mins per day.Update; July 2021.This torch has worked perfectly for 2.5 years with daily, regular use. I wouldn't buy any other torch. It honestly works like the day I got it.Original review below:I've owned a lot of torches. This one, I only just got it. So, I have no idea how it will hold up compared to other torches. However, many torches I have bought have only lasted around 3 months. The last one I purchased lasted over a year, though, and still works. I bought this one because it's apparently the best. It'll be a long time until I know if it can last as long as my other one, a Newport torch, also purchased from Amazon if I remember correctly. All that said, this torch uses my butane slower. It seems to be more fuel efficient, the flame is more concentrated, the flame is more powerful and can withstand the wind better. I'm not a big fan of the activation and deactivation method. You turn a knob to open the gas and then strike with a button, closing the knob to turn it off. Because of that design, it feels less safe. Compared to my other torch, which is like most torches(that I've owned), and has a safety, you unlock, press button, and have to hold or lock to keep on.If one of my kids happens to get their hands on this torch, I feel like they'd be more likely to be able to trigger it or do something dangerous than they would with my old torch, and most torches, if not all, torches I've owned before that.Aside from that, I'd say this is the best torch I've ever owned. We'll see how it stands up to daily use for the next year and hopefully, I'll remember to update this review then.Edit-3 monthsStill works like the day I bought it. Nothing has changed.

I dab a lot and before purchasing this one I went through 4 torches. Just using them so much they eventually stopped working for one reason or another. This torch is amazing! It holds a lot so you don't have to fill as often which because some gets lost due to spillage during the fill will save you butane. It doesn't have an annoying safety and you can leave it on so if your nail is the same height you don't even have to hold the torch. Not that you will need it there long anyways because its also the hottest torch I've ever had! I purchased 2 when I bought mine, one for my buddy. On his it wouldn't always light on the first click and it was a really simple fix. The little thing that generates the spark must have got bent so it was too close to the center. Just needed to reposition with a dab tool or pencil and its been lighting first click ever since. Another crazy thing is that even though this thing gets heavy use and taken on road trips and hikes it still looks almost in mint condition. No wear, scratches or scuffs. I don't know what's up with that but its a bonus. I'm so happy I decided to make the investment! I got mine on sale as well but even at full price it would be 100% worth it! Just noticed it comes in green as well and I'm tempted to buy that one to match my rig :)

This is the 5th torch I have purchased over the past year and without any doubt, by far the best. Personally, I really find it worth it to spend a little more on something if the quality is going to back it up. I've had gas valves go out, ignitions wear out to no longer provide sparks to light the torch and various other unfortunate things (vector and alike high end torches). This torch actually boasts customer support for their product and a warranty! I also always use 5X or more refined butane so that was not the reason for my past torches. Anyways - I not use almost no butane in comparison to my old torches and my element is able to be heated up in less than half the time.UPDATE: After owning this torch for over 6 months now, I figured I'd submit a follow up for my review. There is not much to say though- this torch is exactly like the day I bought it; no signs of wear. I use it several times a day, every single day. Another great thing about the torch I've noticed is that it regulates the gas better than any torch I've had, in the sense that it allows you to use every last bit. When the torch is almost empty, while not quite full strength, it still gives you a decent flame until it's completely empty. And as many people suggest to empty the torch before refilling it, you won't waste that last bit of fuel like with other torches, where the flame just slowly goes down to an unusably small flame for the last 10% of the gas. Every other torch I have owned, regardless of initial quality, have all started to show major signs of wear within 2 months. This torch might be a little more expensive than the others, but if you plan on using it much, it'll be cheaper in the long run as you won't be replacing it!!!!!!!!!To keep your torch in tip top condition: Whenever refilling, first allow it to run out completely, and then take a small screwdriver or similar tool and purge the last bit of the butane out- then refill it. Then wait at least 20 minutes to allow the gas to (equilibrate) warm up inside the torch; it is very cold and there is the possibility of liquid butane being sent through the nozzle of your torch, which will damage it.

I love how hot and yet efficient this torch is, a tank of gas lasting me quite a long time. It is pretty hard to tell exactly how much you have left through the bottom window, but you can at least tell when your on your last 20%; also you can feel impending emptiness by weight too. The construction is durable all of the way through, the only way you can get one that doesn't work new or that doesn't last many years is by some insanely bad luck or product care. I know people who have had only one of these for years who use horrible quality fuel and drop theirs all the time and still it puts out like new and barely has visible residue. So if you use nothing but top quality N-Butane like me, then there is nothing short of a getting caught in a nuclear holocaust that will cease healthy function of your Big Shot for many years to come (I know that was dramatic, the point is it's a challenge to break one of these in a residential or professional environment, but not so much in a war-zone). I use this torch for brazing and burning concentrates, and I know plumbers and low-temp job welders that swear by this guy. This torch has such a nice heat focus delivering such a skinny flame, I bet a master could craft jewelry with this. I have heard many people say it can't stand up to wind. Honestly even though it is more wind sensitive than the other 8" or 6" torches I have tried, it's not by much. That and paired with the fact this has no safety letting you light it and stay lit out of your hands, you can set it on the floor for the least wind interference.

When it comes to concentrates, this is your torch. Massive flame, good fuel dispersion(doesn't slowly die out as fuel becomes low). Flame is big enough to fully heat large ceramic nails evenly with minimal motion. Glass and titanium are a breeze. Whereas I would have to initially heat my 14mm ceramic nail for a minute with my Bernzomatic hand torch(ST2200T), the Big Shot handles this in about 10-15 seconds. Just be careful as there is no safety shut off. Only closing off the fuel supply kills the flame on this bad boy(like propane torches). It's not like a regular creme brulee hand torch with a ignition button release safety. If you drop it on something that isn't flame retardant/resistant while its running and the flame doesn't flicker out, you're going to do some damage. Be responsible when using this thing.Again, the flame on this is massive for a butane torch. Be careful not to burn anything when igniting for the first time. And keep in mind this thing uses no crappy plastic around the nozzle. The brassremains hot for quite a while after use. I saw another reviewer complain about this, but this is a heavy duty hand torch, plastic, in my opinion, would be unacceptable. This isn't a precision torch, doesn't have a soldering head attachment, and likely isn't what you want for precise application of heat(though you can make the flame pretty fine, given the flame size its capable of throwing) , but from my experiences, this is the best torch all around for concentrates, and I'd imagine it is more than satisfactory for most other plausible applications.
