It heats up very quickly and is easy to handle...worked well for the soldering I needed to do.

If you have a lot of soldering to do, this is not for you: get a soldering gun. It takes too long to heat between joints if they are not quickly consecutive.

Saw a good video review on Amazon, but a review is only as good as the person making the review. Not knowing their background with soldering, I figured it was worth it, but this iron does not get nearly hot enough, even for their own solder. It seems to cycle through heat and cold (likely to save on battery life) but the cycle is too slow to keep the iron hot enough. Simply not good enough for even the tiniest of projects.

I have, over the years, bought several battery operated soldering devices and none of them really worked until I got this one. I even had a Weller and it would not solder anything. This unit comes with built in rechargeable lithium battery, charging cable, stand, replaceable soldering tip, and a carrying case and even a plastic tube with a coiled length of solder in it. It will charge via a USB port or the supplied wall wart plug in power supply. The soldering tip heats up rapidly and a LED light comes on to let you know when the tip is hot enough to use. I have used this unit several times to repair PCB board solder joints and to build amateur radio kits. I do not know how many solder connections you can make before having to recharge the unit, but I have never had to recharge before I could complete a project that I was using the unit on. I highly recommend this cordless battery soldering iron. As I stated in my headline, this one works!!!

Does it heat up quickly? Yes. I was very impressed with how quickly it heated up. It was a bit slow to melt the solder that came with it, and it didn't really do an amazing job at binding the solder to the tab i was soldering a wire to.But the biggest thing, and I should have looked closer, is that they use a lightbulb base to screw in the iron element. After just a few uses, I noticed that the element was wobbly. So I tried to screw it in a bit tighter. that didn't work, so I attempted to remove it.Now here's the problem. because it uses a lightbulb base, it's either welded to the base, or it's pressed in some how. In anycase, trying to un screw it, didn't do anything, and it just came out. except the lightbulb base was still in the iron. I had to use my needle nose pliers to force the base out.Yeah, these won't last long, unless you're doing some super fine work with zero pressure.

I am aware of some of the negative reviews, but I guess I got a good unit because it works great. It heats up to full temp in about 30-40 seconds and maintains a consistent temperature. There is a single button, you push and hold it down to turn it on, and press it again to shut it off. An LED on the front will light up and is a big help in low visibility.I bought mine to primarily to work soldering automotive wires (electrical harness ~22AWG) and other small circuit board repairs or projects where I might not have access to power for my plug-in iron. If your going to be using it for small circuit boards - this iron is excellent, almost overkill. It got plenty hot enough to instantly melt 60/40 solder /w rosin core and even silver based or lead free solder with just a little extra time. (.032" diameter).I saw some of the reviews say that the iron is not hot enough to 'flow' the solder on wire. So I tested it on 20AWG and it worked fine on a power transformer. I wouldn't use this iron on anything bigger than 18AWG, since 18AWG is going to require applying a little bit of rosin flux to the wire and holding the iron for several seconds as you flow the solder and let the heat absorb into the wire. But the tip on the iron is much too small for this application anyway.Build quality was fantastic as far as what I can see (I haven't been tempted to open it up and look inside), it has what feels like industrial quality ABS plastic frame with rubberized grip points and gave me a Milwaukee quality feel from a cheap iron.Battery life - welp haven't needed to use it long enough to kill it yet. It comes with a USB-C charger and a high temp dock to place the iron in after use.Bottom line for the price for small projects it's great. My only concern is that I cannot find additional tips from the manufacturer. But it appears these irons are distributed by several sellers. I would like to order just the tips by themselves.4 out of 5 stars

Have done a few quick repairs with it and so far I am please with how quick it heats up.The little pouch is convenient, though I would prefer a more rigid case with room for extras.Only downside is the cost of spare tips, but hopefully I won't need one for a while.update: 2 months later and the tip broke, it stopped heating up and when I went to take it apart (after cooling) the tip split, exposing the coiled heating element. I'm still happy with it, but hopefully these replacement tips last longer than a few jobs.
