11 screw holes in the side of pickguard, 3 single coil pickup holes were cut Material: 4Ply constructions made of quality celluloid and PVC plastic material. Color: black pearloid / black / white / black. There are 2 layers thin protective film on the front surface of the pickguard, peel off after installation. All the holes aligned and were countersinked but the volume and tune pegs were a little too big so it needed trimming looks amazing though

Buying a lower cost pickguard seemed a bit risky, but I have too many guitars in process to cut my own. The black pearl was my first one, I was so happy with it I might use one on each of one I build. First off this pick guard is very pretty.1) Most all the holes except one lined up, but that was and easy fix. (If you have a fender or a Classic Vibe 60’s Start you will need to drill into the body to accommodate the one unaligned hole.2) Neck and Bridge slots are very tight, some sanding is required to fit properly.3) The 3 Holes for the Volume & Tone knobs are way to small. These holes are definitely made for Aplha pots (the cheap, crappy China pots)Drilling Will Be Needed! This will cause issues as you will more that likely creat lots of little cracks through the pick guard, fortunately for me, I was able to keep it to a minimum and the volume and tone knobs cover most of them.Just be aware that these pick guards are NOT plug and play. A lot of work on the buyers part is and will be required. But I suppose at this price point some work will be required. The old saying goes, “You get what you pay for” has never been more true. To bad, just a little attention to detail is all that is needed, and it would have been a five star product.

Good fit for the most part on my early 2000's Mexican strat. Had to do some shaving in the neck area and increase the hole size for the pots, but no big deal and fit nicely. What surprised me after I had completely installed, adjusted pickup height, restrung, tuned, etc. came when I pealed off the protective plastic. The front plate showed a considerable amount of wear in the area under the strings where pick scratches would normally develop over time, and super obvious. Hmmm, guess this wasn't a brand-new product. Going back and reading the description I can't find anything describing the product as brand new. Oh well, probably on me then, it works and looks good. And I'm certainly not removing it after all the installation work. It is a big improvement over what I replaced, just wasn't expecting a recycled item. A bit of a stretch, but I'll kindly give it 4 stars.
