I'd never crocheted a day in my life, but I was able to follow along with the booklet and video tutorials and learn. I also really like that the kit comes with enough supplies to make three of the same project, because the repetition is really nice for a newbie. Very fun!

This is a gorgeous little package, seemingly aimed at children or teenagers, and it is supposed to be for a complete beginner. While the package itself is really cute with all the correct things you need to make these little whales, and yes there’s a guidebook… it’s complicated as well! I mean, I can knit, cross stitch, how hard can this be?

I first bought this over a year ago when I initially wanted to begin crocheting, having zero previous experience. I tried to start a few times but found it difficult having no prior experience crocheting and set it aside. About 3 weeks ago I started to learn again how to crochet again and got a good grasp for the basics of crocheting so decided to attempt this kit again. Turned out well, you need to use a combination of the videos and the written instructions, I found they didn’t line up perfectly and could be a bit confusing. Turned out really cute, but I don’t think it’s totally for beginners, I think you need a bit of experience first, but it’s not a bad price for all you get with the kit which is convenient and the yarn is very forgiving for someone that is newer.

My very first time crocheting and it was so much fun! I didn't wanna spend the money on a Woobles kit. From what I know, the only real difference is that Woobles comes with the rounds already pre-started. However, I had no trouble learning how to get a magic circle started from the tutorials provided (and plenty other easier ways to do it just from youtube tutorials). Yarn is great and easy to use, they give you more than enough to account for mistakes, the hook is comfy, has good grip and doesnt drag much. Overall a super fun experience!

I have never picked up a crochet hook in my entire life and snagged this kit to try and get into it. We all know the big brand who got popular off kits..and they're overpriced and ridiculous. This is a GREAT product for the price, however I did notice a big of a language barrier in the instructions (written and video). Some of the steps were really hard to understand. Honestly, if my roommate weren't a crochet veteran, I'd probably have given up. That being said, I finished this kit in about a week and love the final products. There was plenty of yarn to allow for mistakes, and the hook, stitch markers, and needles were all perfectly adequate. I love the yarn for a learning yarn. I've already moved onto more traditional yarn for a pattern I got off the internet, but this was a great learners yarn. I just wish the instructions were a bit more detailed and it was listed as maybe an intermediate to experienced beginner kit. I wouldn't pick this for someone who had never held a hook before.

A great kit to introduce a young person to crocheting (even adults). Simple instructions and everything in the kit you need. Good quality materials. I’m an avid crocheter and trying to teach my 10 year old granddaughter.

The instructions are good and the quality looks nice. It didn't come with a crochet hook like it was supposed to so I need to go buy one before my daughter and I can give it ago. It looks good.

This kit comes with everything you need to make 3 amigurumi whales. The yarn is a decent quality, but the scissors it comes with are quite terrible; I ended up just using regular scissors, because what was provided could hardly cut anything. The video tutorials were very helpful, but not the highest quality; the voiceover sounds like it was recorded by a text-to-speech program. Sometimes things are pronounced weirdly (like pronouncing the t in “crochet,” or saying the abbreviations like “sc” for “single crochet” or “dec” for “decrease” rather than saying the actual term), and sometimes the wording is a bit weird, as if it was not written by a native English speaker.Overall, this was a decent kit. It was excellent for me, because I have crocheted before but never tried amigurumi. However, I wouldn’t recommend this to someone who has never crocheted before. Having at least a very basic knowledge of how to hold a hook/how to do basic stitches and how the craft works would be helpful. It wouldn’t be impossible to go in as an absolute beginner, but it would be much more difficult if you didn’t have any previous experience.EDIT: customer service reached out to me a few days after I posted this review offering a refund. I’m not sure if it is because of this review or some other reason. They were very kind. I’m not changing my review because the product quality is still the same, but the company’s customer service is excellent and I definitely have a more positive view of them now.
