tested both battery pad and oil filter heater from this company today using my flir camera, no heat and it was in the low 20s this morning. both getting voltage. i cant feel my fingers from getting those 3 screws out and back in again. connector ends are junk too had to cut them off and solder to fit in the connectors on my 22kw. what a waste of time and energy, but at least I have the wires ran for when I get ones that work. I installed them when it was still warm out and took my time so today just went to check since it was definitely cold enough out. very disappointedupdate: after some disassembly and additional testing, it looks like the issue was the defective thermal switch that should kick on at 10c according to what's stamped on it, but it does not. neither the battery pad or the oil filter were turning on when the temperature was in the 20s (-7c). i ended up cutting out the thermal switch and soldering the wires and controlling the heating pads using a wifi relay that's connected to my home automation system. the heating pads to work fine when the switch is bypassed, but the switches are defective and won't actually heat your oil or battery like they're supposed to. the flir pictures of them working are after i bypassed the defective switches

I live in Alaska where you need to winterize your truck in order to continue using it once it hits the Sub-Zero temperatures. Keeping your battery warm prevents the power from leaching from it which means that it'll have power and charge when you need to get it running in the morning. Easy to connect and attach just use some gasket maker like red aTV

I installed the oil filter heater today. The installation was fairly straight forward. There are a number of variations of the Generac generator out there so don't be surprised if your wiring terminal block is located in a different spot, just follow the wires and you'll find the connections. One wire goes into the N1 block and one into the N2 block. It doesn't matter which wire goes in which block. Press down on the 'X' on top of the connector block to insert or release wires.Where I ran into issues with this unit was when connecting the wire ends to the terminal block. The bare leads were too short and would not create a good connection. Due to their construction I couldn't just cut off more insulation. I was about to the point of soldering new wire extensions onto each end when I realized that the wire harness from a battery heater from another seller had very slightly longer tips. These made good connections and were completely compatible with this unit. (The wire harnesses are built to service both a oil filter and a battery heater.)I've had issues with this generator in the past were it refused to start during sub-zero weather. Hopefully, this add-on will allow the generator to start in extreme cold.
