This pipe cutter worked great for the first cut, ok for the second cut, and then broke little by little. I was really putting it to the test by cutting 2" pipe, but it's rated for 2 1/2" so it should be able to handle it. That first cut was surprisingly easy, but at the end of the cut the knife edge was warped slightly. That warp kept getting worse and bits of the knife edge started breaking off as I attempted to keep using it for both 2" and 1 1/2" pipe. The knife edge is just too thin and brittle. If you're getting this for smaller pipe it will probably work better, but who knows.

Cut 2 pieces of 1 1/2 PVC pipe, wouldn't cut through the 3rd & noticed the blade was messed up..

I grabbed this to replace a broken pair that was purchased a few yrs ago. I tried cutting 3/4”, 1’’, 1-1/2”, and 2” pipe with this. It performed well on everything but the 2” pipe. When attempting to cut 2” the pipe deformed a lot and the cutter started veering off and cutting crooked. I would not recommend if you’re trying to cut anything 2” or larger. However everything else it worked perfect for and I would recommend.

All my life Ive used a reciprocating saw to cut PVC pipes. I've just used sandpaper to clean the fuzzy bit left behind. This ratcheting cutter is a game changer. The ratchet action is smooth and strong which make sit easy to cut. The cuts are extremely smooth with nothing to clean off. It is a sturdy made and the blade is sharp and replaceable. Being able to cur pipes up to a 2.5 inch diameter is very nice and a wide range. It has a latch to hold the handles closed when not in use making it safe.
