This pipe cutter is a great took to have around the house if you need to cut pipes. It can cut pipe up to 1-5/8 inches in diameter. It is pretty lightweight and I tried to cut a small left over PVC pipe and it did the job. Cutting the pipe was easy. Highly recommend if you do small jobs around the house.

The price on this PVC cutter is certainly as low as one will likely ever see, and it IS functional for light duty use. In that sense, I'm satisfied when factoring in the low price. If you cut a lot of PVC or require perfection, you should look into a higher end professional grade tool- as I really don't think it will hold up to a lot of use. For a homeowner doing a project once in a while, this may do what you need and save you some money.Three stars is a "satisfied" rating, and for the price- I'd say it's satisfying, but nothing more. Four and five stars are for exceptional quality and value- but this tool is merely what one should expect for a low-priced, consumer level tool.

Arrived broken, haven’t been able to fix them, and considering there’s a warning on them about potentially permanently injuring yourself, I’ve been afraid to tamper with them.

I'm rather torn between a 3 and 4 star, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. It works as advertised and makes a nice clean cut, but trying half a dozen cuts on a 1-1/4" PVC pipe I haven't been able to get a straight cut from it. As far as I have been able to tell, it looks like the 2 supporting forks the blade passes through are not level with each other and pulling the blade off center under pressure.Taking the cost into consideration, it's probably the "nature of the beast" and not reasonable to expect perfectly square cuts on larger material. The smaller the diameter and softer the material, like PEX, it's likely easier to get a straight cut and much less noticeable. For my purposes, precision isn't absolutely required, but it's something of note to be aware of.The material itself is fairly lightweight, but the ratchet is solid and the keep close clip is spring loaded and secure when the cutter is not in use. It's comfortable to use and get's the job done, but I'm not extremely confident about long term heavy use.
