The shears I received were made in Taiwan not America, like a previous reviewer had stated. Also, they did not feel smooth when blades were squeezed together. Felt like blade edge was rough and catching, not well made. Back they go.

Love it! We now own two of them because it works so well to shape our topiaries, bonsai and grass edges . It is sturdy and easy to clean. It cuts cleanly and does not tear. Excellent product for its price. I do wear gloves to avoid getting blisters.

Has made it easier to trim my small double-ball topiary trees for sure and faster than using scissors. I love that they are only one-hand operable. They do get stuck sometimes. But has been easier on my arthritic hands! Wish they could cut through thicker branches on my topiaries without using 2 hands. They do come with a nice leather belt holder!

Yes, Virginia....they still make quality products in the good 'ol USA....and this is one of them. It's a Japanese design (I lived in Japan as a military dependent for 4 years during the 60's....and this is what the Japanese used for scissors).....I didn't pay any attention at that time regarding use as garden shears but....I can attest that they work well. I have been using them to "defrock" spent flower heads that want to go to seed....thereby encouraging new blossoms. Really well made and excellent functioning garden shears....better than all my other (differently constructed) shears....and one handed action, too. The fake (real?) leather holster is something to behold, even though I don't really need it....but also quality in every way. No Chinese product here....the steel and construction in these shears are first class.....I'm surprised that the Chinese are not cranking out a cheap knock off product (note: the Japanese ones are excellent, too....just don't know where to buy them outside of Japan).

My hubby mows the lawn and for areas missed by the lawnmower I use this to trim the grass around the trees. It's sharp, cuts well, and I find it lighter than my kitchen chopping knife. These are the best garden shears I ve bought. The ones I ve had were made in China and fell apart . This shear feels sturdy and is made in USA.

These shears are a joy to use. They are sharp, and don't cause the grass to scoot down the blades before they actually cut. They're surprisingly easy on my weak, arthritic hands. I clean and dry them after every use, storing them in a safe dry place. I hope they will outlast me!

Seems to be mass produced under less than desired supervision. Blades were overly bent to force a scissoring effect but makes it less effective. After readjusting with pliers, they work much better. Does come with an attractive belt sheath.

Great product for trimming small woody and all green growth on flowers, vegetables etc. They were not designed for heavy thick plant growth and are not suited for that task. I don't do topiary but they would be perfect for fine shaping new growth. I use them to prune tomatoes, roses, and herbs for cooking.
