I use this for power carving and I have had great success with small spaces and really good material removal. Definitely a must have

This is a powerful tool to carve on any time of wood.

Heavy duty. Installs quickly and easily. It’s very aggressive, and angle grinders are very powerful. It would be easy to loose control and damage your work surface. I wouldn’t use this without a side handle.

This attachment is pretty cool for what it does. But you better dig that side handle out because you're going to need it. It's a little bit awkward at first and it can get away from you. I did notice it clogs kinda quick depending on the wood species.

This works well but is aggressive and sometimes difficult to hang onto and control. I am glad I got it and will continue to use it. It makes quick work of hollowing out wood . Does not work well directly down.

It works as I expected and does a decent job the only issue is with certain types of wood it clogs up quickly and you spend more time cleaning it than cutting. If you don’t clean it it all but stops working. Paired with the right wood is it’s a useful tool.

This 40mm sphere rotary burr ball gouge has 5/8-11 threads and fit my Makita cordless paddle switch angle grinder just fine. It rotates smoothly and evenly. Obviously, due to the center of rotation, one does not want to use this exactly vertically but rather at an angle to the bottom point of the sphere. Once I became comfortable at that angle and I didn't push down too much and let the gouge do the work, it was much easier to control, and I felt more comfortable with it than some other angle grinding carving attachments out there. It makes pretty quick work than hand carving, although, depending on the wood species, pieces of wood fibers do have to be removed from the gouge to keep it working effectively. This ball gouge really excels at carving out a recess in wood fairly quickly and much easier than by hand.
