Bought this to convert HDMI out to RCA in for the audio from a new blu-ray player to a vintage Harman Kardon Citation II pre-amp (no HDMI in those days). Works fine, however the instructions say not to leave on when not using for long periods, so an actual power switch would have been helpful as the only way to turn it off is to unplug it.

Have on in my shop as now Rogers Wireless (????) Has caused problems with RCA outputs on my Sennheizers. The one in the shop worked with this arrangement - but not the one i purchased for the house ???? Nothing is easy in this age of innovation. The problem with most modern TV’s - lack of outlets on the rear. And they should support sound out on two TV sources…..which they do not.

WOW....This product is great. I first tried the J Tech Audio Extractor, but could never get it to consistently work. This product worked right off the bat. And it is considerably cheaper than the J Tech. I have 3 items in my system. A Samsung 75" TV, a Onkyo Receiver, with a zone 2 amp, and a Roku Ultra. I use the zone 2 to power remote speakers on the ceiling of various rooms. This product provides an analog output which is necessary for the zone 2 speakers. At the same time, it passes through a 4k 60Hz signal for the 4k TV, which includes audio and video.

We ordered this item a while ago and had some issues with the converter not working recently. After contacting customer service they gave some advice to trouble shoot. When that didn’t work, they offered to ship a replacement right away. Elaine the customer service rep has been very helpful and a great communicator. New converter works well and I would buy from them again! Great customer service is hard to come by these days so I appreciate the quick response and remedy of our issue.

I picked this up because my Xbox Series X does not have an optical out, which was how I connected my Xbox One X to my Stereo. I was able to connect RCA from my TV to my stereo and that sounds great, but there is significant audio lag (over 225ms). I play Rock Band so this was unacceptable. This device significantly reduced audio lag by over 140ms so I can properly calibrate audio lag for Rock Band, but the sound quality reduced quite a bit. I have to turn my volume up much higher on my stereo now, and even doing that to get the volume to match previous levels the bass seems to be gone.

I used this to connect a Chromecast to an older stereo receiver for audio only. Works great. Simple to use. Sound quality is very good to my ear. My only minor complaint is that I wish the power cord were a little bit longer. Other than that, well worth the price.

I bought this unit and used it for several days and am now returning it because the extracted 5.1 audio had bad static and dropouts. If you intend to use it for a similar purpose, I recommend not buying this unit (or brand) and buying a J-Tech branded unit instead for the reasons explained below:It did extract DolbyDigital 5.1 audio from programs streamed on a one year old Firestick. Sent that by Toslink optical cable to my home theater system. It did successfully pull a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio stream from the HDMI signal. I got a full DD 5.1 audio stream from it to my HT processor/preamp. (The video was passed though to my TV without a problem.) HOWEVER, the 5.1 extracted audio had loads of small pops, static and dropouts. It was not constant but it was so frequent as to be impossible to listen to long term. I tried multiple programs on Prime and Netflix to the same result. I reset each connection and each device. I power cycled everything. I tried a second, brand new Firestick. Different cables. I manipulated the audio selector switch back and forth in case it had dirty contacts. All had the same result: Multiple pops, snaps and dropouts in a row, or every 20s, or every 10s, etc. Completely random but nonstop throughout every single program. When it wasn't making nasty little sounds and dropping out, the surround sound audio was loud and clear through my speakers. I got Dolby Digital 5.1 but the nasty little snaps and drops were unbearable. The unit came with the wildly unrealistic statement from Avedio that "customer service specialists" are available 24/7 by email. I emailed Avedio's support address the day after I got it. No one has even acknowledged receiving the email in two and a half days, let alone responded with anything substantive. Back it goes to Amz.By contrast, I contacted a different vendor who makes/sells the same type of products on Amz. J-Tech is located in Texas and they have a customer support number with real live people here in the USA. I called them twice and they answered the phone each time. (Amazing to find these days!) Each time they answered my questions and helped me choose the correct replacement unit from their lineup. I purchased a J-Tech unit from Amazon and it arrived today. I already set it up--unhooked the Avedio and hooked everything right up to the J-Tech. The J-Tech is working exactly as it should. The extracted audio sounds great in my home theater system. So I'm a hard no on Avedio and a strong yes on J-Tech.
