Product Description

AUTEL TS601: 2024 NEWEST TPMS RELEARN AND PROGRAMMING SCANNER

2-Autel TPMS Programming Relearn Scanner for All Cars TS408 TS508WIFI MX-SENSOR

Why was Autel Tire Pressure Tool TS601 Born?

NHTSA estimates that there were approximately 23,000 tire leaks and blowouts accidents per year and hundreds of deaths due to no tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) on the cars before 2008. For this reason, TPMS systems & TPMS sensors have become a mandatory part of vehicle manufacturing in the US since 2008.

When air pressure loss occurs in the tires, the TPMS will notify the driver with a flat tire warning light to avoid dangerous driving, shortening tire life, ruining vehicle fuel performance, etc. Therefore, cars after 2008 should also pay extra attention to TPMS diagnostics and sensor replacement. That's why Autel tire pressure tool TS601 was born.

SENSOR PROGRAMMING

Sensor Programming Specially Designed For Autel MX-Sensors

Frequently heard “Can I program my own TPMS?” “Yes, you can.” All you need to do is prepare a professional tire programming tool and a kit of Autel MX-Sensors. Whether you are a home DIYer or a professional tire repair mechanic, the Autel TS601 TPMS scan tool is a great choice because it offers 5 programming options to fit any of your sensor situations, and its easy-to-use software also ensures accurate results and efficient productivity. The Autel MX-Sensors also have the same functionality as your OEM sensors but are more cost-effective.

5 Options for Autel MX-Sensor Programming:

  • Copy by Activation: If the original sensors can be activated, this function allows users to bypass OBD II and automatically write in the retrieved original sensor data to the MX-Sensor.
  • Copy by Manual Input: If the original sensors can not be triggered, this function allows users to manually enter sensor IDs. (The random ID or the original sensor ID is available.)
  • Copy by OBD: Allow user to write in the saved sensor information to MX-Sensor after performing Read IDs from Vehicle in Relearn function.
  • Auto Create: Designed to program the MX-Sensor by applying random IDs created according to the test vehicle when it is unable to obtain the original sensor ID.
  • 1-16 MX-Sensors Programming: Up to 16 MX-Sensors can be programmed simultaneously.

Note: Autel TS601 TPMS tool ONLY programs Autel MX-Sensors.

SENSOR RELEARN

3 Mainstream Relearn Methods for OEM/Universal TPMS Sensors

TPMS vehicle relearn procedures vary by the automaker. Some vehicles relearn automatically when you drive them. Others require a TPMS scan tool to complete the relearn. However, the Autel TS601 OBD2 scanner features 3 ways of position relearn for OEM/Universal TPMS sensors to fit different vehicle relearn needs after tire rotation and sensor replacement.

  • Automatic Relearn

An auto-relearn procedure is when a vehicle can learn a single or multiple TPMS sensor IDs without a TPMS relearn tool. The TPMS system will automatically reset itself after a while of driving.

  • Stationary Relearn

Stationary relearn requires the vehicle to be in “Learn Mode” and allows the new TPMS sensor IDs to be written into the vehicle’s ECU via Autel TS601 TPMS scanner without driving a vehicle.

  • OBD Relearn

The OBDII relearn is mostly applied to Asian & European vehicles. An OBDII relearn requires the Autel TS601 TPMS scanner to write new sensor IDs directly to the vehicle’s ECU following step-by-step instructions. Relearn has never been so easy.

Tips: Normally, there is no need to perform ‘Relearn’ procedures, if the programmed sensor has been put in the same position.

This is a great and handy tool to have. America's Tires quotes $82 to replace 1 sensor. $60 for 1 sensor, $22 for labor. I have used this tool on 2 of my vehicles so far and the money I saved has already paid for this tool. I purchased the manual tire changer from Harbor Freight and now do all tire and TPMS sensor work myself.Pros:-The device can learn/read each TPMS manually one at a time physically-Or plug into OBD-II port and load all TPMS sensors directly to the device-You can program each new TPMS by codes you gathered by the 2 methods I mentioned above-Or you can enter each code manually to program the TPMS-So far I cloned all 4 TPMS sensors on my 2020 Toyota Tundra for my OFF-ROAD tires/rims-Also replaced all 4 TPMS sensors on my 2008 Lexus GS350-Alerts you if a TPMS sensor battery is lowCons:-Price. ~$300 is a bit steep for the tool.-Can only program Autel sensors

I write this review to try and clear up some of the timidness I had when purchasing this scanner. I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure if this scanner would work with the TPMS sensors I purchased since I bought Denso (Pacifc Industries) first time fit sensors and not the programmable Autel MX sensors. In short, EVERYTHNG WORKED. I installed the sensors on a 2008 Scion tC with 168k+ miles and was able to wake them up and write them to the ECU using this tool. In theory, you should also be able to use the Autel TS501 to write TPMS sensors IDs to the ECU as well. I opted for the TS601 due to the ability to read additional fault codes via the OBDII connection without having to purchase a second tool. There is a review by Victor on December 15, 2016 that gives this scanner a poor review. Its possible his still issue with transposing sensor IDs still exists but my bet is that Autel issued an update to fix that issue. I did not experience this issue when writing the new ID codes to the ECU. This scanner is still supported with updates. Upon receiving my scanner, I checked for updates and there were a few. After updating, using the scanner is a breeze. Many of the functions are self explanatory and other reviews have mentioned the manual is poorly translated to English. There are a number of youtube videos though that go over using the scanner. I did not read the manual in full and more or less followed online videos along with using intuition to use the scanner. When it comes to "programming" sensors, its true that this scanner will only "program" Autel's proprietary MX sensors; however, in this sense "programming" the sensors refers to writing the old sensor ID's to the MX sensor. This process should be referred to as cloning sensors instead of programming. If you have sensors that are already assigned an ID code and have the correct frequency for your car, you can use this tool to trigger the sensor to capture its ID and then write that ID to ECU. Thus, buying the MX sensors isn't necessary. I was able to scan all 4 tire sensors and write them to the ECU simultaneously. As an added bonus, the scanner also simultaneously clears the TPMS warning light during this process so there is no requirement to drive X distance for Y amount of time at a minimum speed of Z mph. You simply write the new sensor IDs to the ECU and you’re done. I haven't used any of the live data functions but look forward to exploring those.

I was tired of not being able to program and fix my own TPMS lights. The day I got this baby in, I discovered that my spare tire was not reading pressure to the car. I then bought a sensor here on amazon for $32 and had tire shop put it in my spare for $10. (Make sure you program the new sensor before giving them, or you will have to drop the PSI below 10psi to program! I forgot and had to let the air out and then did an auto program on the sensor, and then put the air back up to normal). Then I was able to go around and read all 5 sensors, then connected it to my OBDII and program my 2007 Avalon ECU to read all the new tire sensor IDs within seconds. Tire light was out!!! I went ahead and used a digital tire gauge on all tires to get exact tire pressure then I "reset the Avalon TPMS" so that all future sensor readings would compare to the current tire pressure stored in the ECU and be accurate! (Just turn car to on (don't start), and hold TPMS reset button (under dash) until the TPMS light slowly flashes 3 times, then wait 1 minute), and presto, car was back in perfect TPMS condition and no more annoying light!!! I love this new gadget. I accidentally bought the TS408 version first a couple of years ago because it said it did programming, but lied, still annoyed that I had bought that and wasted money on that one... This one does everything, very very happy with it!

If you do anything on your vehicle on your own, buy this! TPMS, OBDII reader, stats, live data, the list goes on. So easy to use. Pulled it out of the box, turned it on, scanned winter tires, reprogrammed ECU, completed and done in under 5 minutes - including the scan of 4 tires, and the 28 seconds to link to the ECU. Honestly, should have bought one of these years ago! It was the final piece to round out my collection for the DIY garage. Get one, save the money at the shops, DIY and take some pride in your own handy work.
