I run an Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT turntable and needed a replacement for its original ATN3600L stylus. After some research, I decided to give this stylus a try. I was keen to see what all the fuss was about when it came to using an affordable elliptical stylus rather the original conical stylus my turntable was shipped with. After many hours of trying different eras of pressings from sixties mono singles to classic seventies rock albums to recent repressing's, I came to a few conclusions. First the positives. I was genuinely impressed by the significant improvement in sound quality, especially in the mid to upper ranges. I was hearing much more, finer detail in familiar albums I've been listing to for years. The discs ran quieter too, given the needle sits deeper in the groove there was much less surface noise with some discs becoming whisper quiet, significantly improving the fidelity of the sound reproduction in some cases to almost "mint" level. The overall impression was like the lifting of a veil. Neutrally, I did perceive a small roll-off of bass across some LPs, with bass became less boomy and more tightly focused. Thus, some favourite rock pressings became less warm although more muscular. Either way, the shift wasn't intolerable just different. Finally the main negative, while my vintage vinyl collection fared well with the new stylus almost every recent pressing, e.g. Beatles remixes, suffered from persistent skipping. This was disappointing, my turntable doesn't have the anti-skate functions others have, and left me with next to no option for making fine adjustments to the tone arm. I surmise that there are two factors at play here, recent pressings tend to have louder, amped up bass which could unsettle the deeper sitting stylus, and many recent pressing have quality issues. Together with the inflexibility of my tonearm, I had to accept defeat and leave my expensive box sets on the shelf. It's possible that your turntable may be able to cope better with modern pressings and this stylus. This may be the stylus for you, or it may not be.

Great little upgrade from the stock needle. Overall bit wider of a side than the stock needle

Replacement was super east on my AT LP-60. Item came super quickly and as advertised. You don't hear any crackles or hissing during change or at the start, definitely makes the unit a step up overall. Worth the extra cost.

I purchased this elliptical stylus to replace my conical stylus. I heard that playing old vinyls with an elliptical stylus is better as the diamond gets to go deeper into the groves! Wow! The sounds is amazing and I am playing a 1974 vinyl. Less static, dust sound, sounds improved a lot!Definitely an upgrade on sound quality!

AT LP60X. Replaced the original stylus with this one. Bass response is so much better, and detail increase is very apparent. Definitely worth the upgrade.

Solid upgrade for the AT-LP60x. Better depth of sound, more clarity and improved performance with older records.

My previous stylus had worn down, so it was time for me to replace. After researching about this particular option, I was glad to see that not only did it fit my AT LP60XBT turntable, but it also was an elliptical stylus. The turntable I have is admittedly somewhat entry-level, but this stylus uplifts my entire collection, as if I were using much more audiophile-level equipment! THIS is the way to upgrade your sound if you don't want to spend hundreds or thousands upgrading your whole setup! The best way to describe it is...it basically took all of my records and made them sound a bit brighter and clearer-mostly in the high range, but even the low range dynamics seem expanded as well. The improvement is much more noticeable on older records (rather than the 180 gram half-speed reissues of whatever) - but even newer ones benefit from a stylus that simply gets deeper in the groove, thereby translating more musical 'information' cut into the vinyl.Even if you've already had an elliptical stylus; if you've noticed of late that several of your records have more surface noise you didn't hear beforeo, inner groove distortion is more obvious, or if the overall sound is more dull than you remember...then it's time for a new stylus! After all, an elliptical stylus really only lasts for about 300 hours of playing time. That's easily accomplished in 18 mo.-2 years, even if you only play a couple days a week! Even replacing your old worn out stylus can make all the difference...

Not that i have an incredible vinyl setup, but i have my Sony turntable run through my Yamaha home theatre system with NHT speakers, and this has significantly improved the "feel" of music i'm playing.

The original stylus on my LP60X started to sound terrible. Replaced it with this elliptical stylus and can't be happier. Eventually I will upgrade to a much better turntable. For now, it does what it needs to do for my small vinyl collection. I certainly hear differences in sound, but I won't be able to tell whether I just got used to the decaying sound quality of the old one or if there is a true difference with the shape of this stylus. It works and sounds great, that's all that counts.Update: well, unfortunately, after playing more vinyls I am at about 25% of my vinyls that this stylus is skipping on several tracks per vinyl. Returning and trying to purchase original conical stylus next.
