I like the size (32 gallons ) I like the Quality & Design….I do think it is pricey, but that’s me..Again, worked out great for my waterfall out of the early 40’s International Harvester truck.

There is. No way it holds the weight it says. It’s good but not going to hold anything a little heavy. Use it only if you are going to place something not very heavy and remember with water item gets heavy.

I have this device set in the ground on gravel and sand and I've surrounded it with decorative rocks and in the center I run a water hose up through a large bolder. There is not a lot of room to access inside the container. Limited room to fit in a pump so you need to take that into consideration when purchasing a pump. Running water I may be able to use it all year round until it gets very cold. It's attracting an interesting assortment of wildlife.

I'm extremely pleased with this basin. I was apprehensive, at first, to spend $260 on a plastic box, but it proved well worth it. The plastic is thick and has very little flex when I place my body weight against it by pushing down on the top. Installed, I have 100 pounds on it, so I can't speak to the rigidity of it with a heavy fountain. However, for my "Japanese inspired" fountain, this basin is perfect. Installation is straight forward: you basically dig a hole in the ground and put the basin in the hole with the lip slightly above ground level. To insure the fountain is level, it helps to dig the hole slightly deeper than necessary and fill the bottom of the hole with sand. You can then tamp the sand and use a 24" level to level out high spots and low spots. If there is a high spot or low spot in the sand base, move the sand around or add more sand until level. Then, after leveling the sand base, place the basin in the hole, back fill, and you're done. It's also helpful to place blue painter's tape over the holes to prevent dirt and debris from getting inside during installation.

The basin made it incredibly simple to build a disappearing fountain. You don’t really need a basin. You could just dig a hole, insert a pond liner and cover it with grate. However, the basin just makes everything fast and easy. There are channels on the top to run multiple tubes to fountains. There is a channel through the lip for the electrical cord. It holds a substantial amount of water so you don’t have to fill it very often. The basin is very sturdy. I’m currently using a single concrete fixture that is 14” in diameter and weighs 125 pounds centrally placed on the basin. An additional 100 pounds of gravel is spread around the fixture. There are large cones inside the basin that provide good support for the top. However, the cones do limit your ability to reach into the basin. There is a plastic cover on top that you can remove to access the inside of the basin. Because of the cones you only have easy access to about 1/3 of the interior. The cover has a hole in the corner for the pump power cord. This makes it easy to install and remove the pump. The basin is very expensive for a plastic tub and please note that the price fluctuates by as much as 50 percent. Installation consists of digging a hole slightly larger than the basin with a compacted level surface, drop the basin in the hole and back fill the dirt. It helps to use leveling sand under the basin. Also filling the basin with water prior to back filling keeps it level and in place. The slots in the top for the water to drain are about a ¼” wide so you will want to use gravel that is larger to insure it doesn’t fall into the basin.
