The base works great and holds my 500 pound fountain no problem. however the drainage holes for the water to get back into the base are rather large. so much so that bugs, crickets, leaves, dirt, etc. got into the base and impede the pump flow. I put screen door screen over the top pieces which seems to have worked.

It's a great product in that it hold quite a lot of water in the base such that you don't have to add water to the fountain every day... including in a hot climate like where I live in Texas. It's made of thick plastic so is quite sturdy. Having said that, you need to be careful how heavy a fountain you put on the basin or else it can bend a bit. Nevertheless, I recommend it for indoor or outdoor fountains.

For the reviewers who said it was overpriced, they were wrong. The engineering is quite impressive. Notches for the pump cord, removable panels for easy access, and the center support is perfect. My pump fit inside the center support making it super easy to run the connection from the fountain directly to the pump.Yes you can build your own, and I have done that, but this is the way to go if your are installing a water feature.

This was designed by someone who knows about fountains and disappearing waterfalls. It is the only one that I have seen that has a top portion (with holes for the water to flow into the basin) that is heavy duty enough to support the weight of the rocks that I needed to pile on top of it. I really appreciate how the center is slightly elevated and has a big enough opening for my hand and the water hose to fit inside. It was also nice that the top panels are removeable in sections so I don't have to tear the whole thing apart when winter comes to remove the pump. I was trying to figure out how to make one out of heavy steel grating, but then I would have had rusty water. This is a great basin, a bit pricey, but it met all my requirements and I could complete my project. Thank you for making such a great product in a world of junk.

Simple product that works well. The tub was easy to install. The grates are sturdy. Die to the larger diameter of our fountain pot, I increased the center support diameter by surrounding it with 1" cut pieces of PVC pipe surrounded with a large hose clamp. There is a photo in another review where someone else did this. It worked perfectly. I would definitely by this fountain basin again.

$250 for an over-sized Tupperware is indeed excessive, and this is a quality product. I did have an installation issue. The center pedestal that supports the fountain is 10" in diameter and sticks up 1" past the pie-shaped pieces. The particular pot I choose to use for a fountain is 13" in diameter and as you can see in the pictures, the bottom of the pot is concave. This concave bottom portion would only be resting on the edge of the pedestal and would no completely unstable. I cut a number of pieces of PVC pipe to extended the diameter of the pedestal and held them in place, on top of the pie-shaped pieces, with a large HVAC duct clamp.The pot rests on the PVC pieces as is quite stable. The pieces shaped pieces can still be removed for maintenance even with the pot in place.

I have a couple different kinds of basins but this is by FAR the best. Got it for $82.00!!! Sturdy and strong. Love to get another at that price.The seller who is charging over 10X what I paid (over $825!!!!) should be ashamed of themselves!!

I bought this after much research. Really $250 bucks for a glorified rubber maid tub?It is sturdy and the fountain looks great (although of course you can't see the basin, its buried). I have a heavy rock fountain in the middle (100lbs?) on the support and there is no issue with that. The rest of the basin is covered with river stones. Its rated for much more weight than I have on it but even when I walk on it there is no flexing.The easy access panels are definitely great. Even after all setup and looking good, it only takes a few minutes to push the river stones aside so that you can access the pump or replace the water. You should keep this in mind when you are setting it up - bigger rocks along the edge or the fountain in the middle might block the panels from being able to open. I only needed one panel - the one near the pump - to be able to open and I kept checking that I could do that as I placed the bigger rocks and the fountain.I also put 3/4 minus gravel around the perimeter so that runoff from the yard would go down there and not wash into the basin. I have already had to replace the water because it was looking muddy in the fountain - that was from the river rocks being dirty initially. I'm hoping to avoid repeating that with the yard water not going into the basin.Do I wish there was a cheaper option? Yeah. Am I happy with how this one is doing the job? Yep.And I couldn't find a better option.
