Got this the other day brought it to work tried using it to do some brake lines and just felt cheap and brittle didn't really do a great job I deffinetly won't be using it again and regretting buying this after the first use. Might be alright for a beginner or someone needing to make a flair or two at home but isn't good for a professional setting.

This brake kit makes flaring easy. It was delivered 6 hours ago. Ive already gone to the parts store for some ends and was able to do 10 flares, only messed up one, but I got my proportioning valve into my car.

I managed to flare the tube I was working with even though the clamp allows it to slide down a bit. Placing the clamp in a vice provides better control but I'm still trying to figure out how to hold the tube solidly so that when you tighten the flare flange down the tube stays in place. This is apparently the major problem with most of these flaring kits. Using with a vice from the start is probably a good idea. Otherwise you will need to be prepared to practice and sacrifice tubing as you will need to cut off the portion you screwed up. Practice is probably a good idea anyway.

Will try and make this short. Was not familiar with ATD tools. Purchased this with the intent of a brake job. Instructions for use was a little confusing initially but as I reread them, they were very concise. Had a problem with one of the dies. I needed to do about 12 bubble flares. did 10 of them with success. Thought I was finished with the job. Then I needed to do 2 more flares for unseen work. My flare came out crooked, thoguth I did not prep the tube correctly, so I did another with same result. Turned out the die was bent and caused the issue. Long story short. tool is under warrenty. communicated with company and best customer service. Fast response. Part is being shipped. Will purchase more ATD tools when needed.

I bought this set so that I could make ISO bubble flares in soft steel and copper alloy brake tubing. My older flaring sets could make single and double flares, but not bubble flares. Sadly, the forming dies in this set are made of such soft steel that they tore up on the first bubble flare, and left a rough surface that will never seal . I then tried using this ATD set to make single and double flares in soft steel tubing, and also got poor results. The V shaped anvil that makes the inside of the flare is made of soft steel, and tore up immediately. Also, the V anvil on this set does not swivel as on good quality sets, but instead just digs into the tubing flare and leaves a rough finish. Using brake fluid as a lubricant had little effect. I tried the same piece of soft steel brake tubing on my two older, name brand flaring sets, and both sets made smooth and perfect single and double flares without damage to the tool. In adddition, the instructions in this ATD flaring set for making bubble flares are very poorly written, and the illustrations are even worse. For instance, the illustration that should show a bubble flare actually shows a single flare being made. The other two illustrations are so small and crudely done that they are useless. However, the tubing bender included in the set does work well, and the tubing cutter is adequate. This set is definitely going back for a refund.
