I have the bad habit of putting my are brushes here there and everywhere and when I need it again I have to go on a hunt. I bought two of these units and it's let me organize my brushes into sizes, my pastel chalks, X-Acto knifes and accessories as well as all the other odds and ends I often misplaced but can't live without. This has been just what I needed to keep me organized and when inspiration strikes I know I'll be ready to create. It looks great, the drawers slide easily and is made well with a nice finish.

These are fantastic. I received one as a gift for my pastels and ordered a second one for my pastel pencils. They take up very little space, but you can fit a TON of pastels in them. What's great about this box is that the drawers are so snug, you can put this box in a tote bag to head to art class, and when you open the drawer after you arrive, none of the pastels have moved. I used to have to tape my boxes of pastels closed to keep them from spilling out en route to class. It also has a lot of sections so you can separate the pastels by color. I think 2 will be a little heavy to carry to class, but I'll still use them. No more spreading out several boxes of pastels and pastel pencils all around me! Great for both travel and to use in studio. Love.

Artist's Pastel Storage Boxes 2-Drawer is a GOOD pastel box. The box is nicely finished and visually pleasing. It is also comfortable to use. I would give it a higher mark, yet there was one thing missing there. This thing was one of the bars dividing the drawers (two bars - one at each side- are needed.) Thus the upper drawer was scrubbing the pastels in the bottom drawer; there was no support for the drawer there. It was a small thing yet a great nuisance. Reviewing these based upon my intended use. I use these to store my colored pencils in. They are perfect, but a bit expensive. Still my favorite storage option though. I have one set of drawers for each set of pencils.

I have bought a few of these over the last couple of years, and previously they've been very well made, sturdy & attractive. So I didn't hesitate to order another one when I needed a little more space for my growing collection of pastels and pencils. When unpacking this, the first thing I noticed through the clear wrapper, was that the box looked unfinished. The tops of the previous boxes have a nice wood grain (it may be veneer but it looks & feels like wood), this looks almost like unfinished wood, one corner was slightly dented & the tissue-paper-thin "veneer" was peeling off. Ok I figured, not a problem, I would just put this box on the bottom of the stack. But when I removed (carefully) the clear plastic wrap, the front of one drawer fell off, & the front of the other is hanging by a thread, or... um... staple, and the drawer-pull has a gap also. There are some splinters here & there. What happened to the quality?? Were these always "made in China"?? I sure won't be buying any more, & may return this one. Beware.

I am very happy with this product. Things to note, the sides, back and draw faces are all made of wood. The back and sides are done with a nice detail and dove joints. It adds a very crafty look and feel. This also helps with stability. So extra points there. The bottom and top are actually two layered pieces of hardboard with a fake wood laminate or sticker. This stuff will bow or bend if it gets wet. It's the same material the draw bottoms, inserts, and separator are made of. It is very common stuff, and about what I expected. The reason some people, including me, are having the draws stick, is because they are about an 1/4 inch less wide than the opening. So if you pull on one side more than the other, it will jam. I've found, once fully loaded, the handles are a bit too small for my giant hands to grip, so I open by pulling on the sides, so it sticks a lot for me. A little bees wax on the bottoms can help. I also replaced the ugly gray foam inside with a sheet of basic crafting foam cut to size. It looks a little nicer, and gives me a little more room for my mechanical pencils. I also mounted a legal size clip board to the top so I could use this as my travel case. Fully loaded and seems to be holding up great. I'd give it five stars if the draws where a little wider to reduce sticking. That's really the only down side.

I love this. I use it as a jewelry box, though, if you have larger items, like chunky bracelets or pendants, they will likely not fit as this is really shallow. It’s true that it’s cheaply made, but what do you expect? It’s less than $20. For that price, I think it’s great! Other reports of the drawer fronts falling off right away are really no big deal. Mine were a little askew, but all I had to do was pinch it together with my hands, and the drawer fronts snapped right back into place. They aren’t glued or screwed. They are attached with apholstry furniture staples. One pinch, and they were good to go. If they detach again, I’ll just use some wood glue to re-secure them. For my budget and what I need, this is perfectly lovely.

I was apprehensive about buying this based on some of the review comments. I thought I'd give it a try and if I didn't like it I would return it. Well it does suit my needs. Presently it's holding 108 pastels, see picture. They range in size from 2 1/2" x 3/8" and 1 3/4" x 3/8". There's room for about 35 more of this size. As mentioned the drawers fit loosely and will easily jam if simply pushed on one side to close. Pushing on both sides solves this issue. It's not a big deal. The drawers will slide open easily when carrying about if you're not careful. I solved this by putting a strap around the box. It is a bit heavier than I expected though. But it solves my issue of having multiple boxes of pastels to haul around.

I was looking for a nick-nack drawer for under my 3D printer and this fits the bill. It's cheap but on the other hand, it's cheap. I will probably replace the foam with felt but otherwise, it's nice enough. The side bits and drawer front are real wood while the horizontal bits are press-board. The dividers are plywood and are removable.

I had purchased the three drawer version of this box first and it arrived and I was so impressed I ordered the 2 drawer one. The 3 drawer holds 160 full sticks of pastel without using the smaller sections. I ordered the 2 drawer one for my nupastels. Couldn't wait for it to arrive. BUT upon arrival I anxiously opened the box and had my pastels ready to be put in their new home. One look at the box and I knew something was wrong. BOTH bottom and top pieces of wood are warped extremely. You can see inside the drawers they are warped so bad. And of course this makes the drawers stick. This is something that should have been obvious upon shipping. Don't know how it even made it into the packaging.
