Bought this item to upgrade my old modem. However I could not get it to connect. Kept getting a message "can't provide a secure connection". After research, trying to figure the issue. I came across many posts that stated that even though per Xfinity its on their approved/recommended list. That they may not technically support the firmware for updates. And when a Comcast/Xfinity rep. Was answering question and was asked if Xfinity supports this modem, no one answered the question. They answered other questions issues.... So overall conclusion this product may work well with other providers, but may not be supported by Xfinity though it's on their list to use. After 2 weeks I could not get it to work. The Rep. I spoke to said they could see the IP but didn't have the provisions. So keep that in mind if you have Xfinity for Internet provider..... This product was in great condition by seller, I just couldn't get it to work on my internet. I am giving 5 stars since I was able to get a refund on this item. I was able to get another brand and am now able to use my service. Again no fault of this product, it is most likely Xfinity really doesn't support it well.

Plug and play, easy to install. Called internet provider Cox, gave SN and MAC number and was up and running in about 10 minutes. Only issue was I bought new and got one that was obviously used.

I purchased this new modem Arris SB8200 Surfboard (not refurbished). Because my internet provider started charging eighteen dollars a month for the rental fee. I have had this model modem for a few years now without any issues. I have the modem hooked up to a Netgear Nighthawk router. The signal strength is great it covers all three floors of my 100 year plus old home. I have some tin ceilings and plaster walls and the signal covers my entire back yard. Once in a great while I have to reset it (once at the most twice in a year) This could have to do because of the internet provider doing maintenance on the lines. Otherwise, it's a pretty solid modem. I have never had to use tech support.

I upgraded from the previous generation DOCSIS 3.0 AARIS Surfboard to this 3.1 version and the up / download speeds are a dramatic improvement. 3.0 gave you 8 multiplexed channels while 3.1 gives you 30. I went from 8 - 10 MBs UP to 57MBs. Downloads went from 180 MBs to 598MBs. That said I never had any previous buffering issues, but now there are none. More speed may be possible as the cable company just asked me if I wanted a free upgrade to the house amplifier. [COX]. While I don't need more, I'll take it. Also, no overheating issues as others have mentioned. Good upgrade!

I got this several months ago and have had no real problems and very good speed. I run a tri-mesh with this and in my small home and property I have perfect wifi! Only one time did I have to unplug this and restart it. Very satisfied!

I've purchased renewed, at Amazon with hit or miss results! The Surfboard 8200 was a MISS!The modem was installed, several days before the return window closed, due to health, & tenant issues.According to xfinity the modem was not operational because it would turn on & off continuously. So the immediate thing to do was to order a replacement, for my tenants, which was a hit unlike the Surfboard 8200.It was also renewed & has been operational since installation. So A HIT!When I tried returning the failed modem, 2 of Amazon reps were unprofessional and would not even listen to the fact, the modem DID NOT WORK, regardless of whether I missed the return window. So beware of renewed or refurbished. I am now, but I'm still irate over NOT getting a refund for a dead modem & the unreasonable reps that would not understand IT NEVER WORKED! Contrary to the description!Beware!!!The 1 star is for the seller! Amazon unreasonable reps didn't even get thanks because they ended the chat.I'd like to report them!

I was running an earlier version of this modem that I had bought 6 years ago which was Docsis 3.0. I didn't even realize I wasn't getting the 600Mbps that I was paying for on my plan. I was limited to just over 4000Mbps. After installing this modem, which needed no setup - just plu and play, I was seeing over 600 Mbps on my connection. I have nothing but praise for this modem.
