About this item

  • FLUID DYNAMIC BEARING: Long service life, silent operation at low speeds and powerful performance at maximum speed.
  • DESIGNED FOR PERFORMANCE: Due to the high static pressure, the fan guarantees efficient cooling even with increased air resistance. Suitable for use on heat sinks & radiators
  • WIDE RPM RANGE: Thanks to the 4-pin connector, the speed can be controlled via PWM. Below 5 % PWM the fan stands still, above 5 % it is infinitely variable between 500-5000 rpm
  • VERY POWERFUL: Most powerful 80 mm fan, 25 years of experience, direct customer support, many years of spare parts supply, CO₂ neutral company
  • OPTIMAL FOR 2U SEVER RACK: High airflow and high static pressure to effectively dissipate heat in server cases such as 2U racks with high component density

The P8 Max is a powerful fan with 500 to 5000 rpm. The fan delivers a static pressure of 5.3 mmH₂O and generates an airflow of up to 40 cfm. It offers precise control of the fan speed via pulse width modulation (PWM) and is extremely efficient at 0.19 A. The P8 Max is ideal for 2U server racks, which often require a high airflow to effectively dissipate heat. In addition, it has a 0 dB mode for silent operation in IDLE.

Virtually Silent due Fluid Dynamic Bearing

As a special feature, the P8 Max is equipped with ARCTIC's proven Fluid Dynamic Bearing*. This enables the virtually silent operation at low speeds that customers have been asking for. At maximum speed, brute performance is still guaranteed. Although these bearings tend to wear out, ARCTIC does not compromise on durability and still offers the 6-year promise.

*All P8 Max fans sold from ARCTIC are now equipped with Fluid Dynamic Bearing. Please note that products from resellers may still be sold with dual ball bearing.

Extremely Wide Speed Range

The P8 Max enables precise fan speed (500 to 5000 rpm) via pulse width modulation control, which can be adapted to the individual cooling requirements. The P8 Max enables silent operation when only a low airflow is required and provides a high performance level if needed.

Optimised for High Static Pressure

The P8 Max delivers a focused airflow and assures a good airflow even with particularly high static pressure. Therefore, the P8 Max is also specially suitable for use on heat sinks, radiators, pinholes and filters.

0 dB Mode - Zero rpm

0dB Mode - Zero rpm

The speed of the fan can be throttled down to a standstill via PWM. This allows silent operation in IDLE and at the same time assures maximum performance when required. This enables the P8 Max to be extremely flexible in adjusting the speed to optimally regulate the airflow for every case.

Low Power Consumption

Low Power Consumption

The P8 Max is distinguished by its extremely high efficiency. At a speed of 3000 rpm and a voltage of 12 volts, it requires only 0.669 watts, which corresponds to a current of 0.06 amps.

Optimal for 2U Server Rack

Optimal for 2U Server Rack

Server cases such as 2U racks usually have a high component density, which means a high airflow is needed to effectively dissipate heat. A high static pressure capacity is therefore important to direct the airflow through the tight ducts inside the case. The P8 Max is ideal for 2U rack cases with 2-height units.

The fan was fine and it worked out when it was plugged into the board to the motherboard. The problem was I ordered the wrong size so I’m returning it for the correct size.

I used this 80mm fan to replace a 120mm fan on a Radiator in order to put in a SFP+ NIC.This fan has a higher CFM rating and higher RPM. kept air flow going and did not loose cooling capability.

I purchased these fans for use in a non-PC case use case. I'm using it in a 3-d printed duct to provide cooling. I bought these specifically because they say they are good for high-backpressure application, which is the use case I had trying to push air through a manifold of ducts. They seem to have decent build quality. Only time will tell whether the bearings have what it takes for longevity.I measure just under 3 watts @ 12V for the fan.Note that of the fans I received, the wiring was a little different. One had the ground on the striped wire, and one did not. I destroyed one fan by reversing + and -. Be sure to observe the position of the wires in the connector, not the wire striping. (Pin 1 = GND, Pin 2 = +12V ... I'm not using the PWM control or tach)

Built a rack-mounted PC and these fans were a perfect fit to keep everything cooled. Very quiet and moved large amounts of air quickly.

Tienen un excelente flujo de aire, pero son muy ruidosos a máxima capacidad, si los puedes regular están geniales.

At max rpm you would think this fan is at min rpm. I love these arctic fans. Have a few now.

Bought a P8 Max because I already had a few P12 Maxes in the computer case. I plug this one in and it went to full speed right away. None of the other fans do this. Looks like the PWM wire is broken somewhere.I rerated this to a 3 star because the replacement worked great.

These fans are optimized to blow more than a normal amount of air into a restricted path. At that, and only that, they succeed.I have four of them, and they all have the same pros and cons:The pros:1) If used as an exhaust or an unfiltered intake fan, they move a better than normal amount of air. You can feel the difference on your hand.2.) They are almost as quiet as a normal Arctic fan.3.) They are inexpensive. The cons:1) They don't suck through a filter very well at all. In fact, they are worse than a normal Arctic fan in that setup.2) At high speed, they have an annoying high-pitched whine.3) Like the rest of their Arctic brethren, they are fragile. You'd better use a pair of grill guards with each. Internal wire or external finger, if contact is made, you will lose a blade. Maybe even some blood, these things are sharp.Having said all of that, I like them.I use them wherever I need a fan blowing into a restricted space or I need more air in an unfiltered location. In a usage case where you need these exact parameters, they'll do fine. But at this price point, there are 80mm fans that are either quieter or move more air (but not both.) So as the headline suggests, choose wisely.Just inspect them upon arrival and treat them gently and you'll be fine.

Used this for a machine with an exterior heatsink. The Noctua fan it replaced was very very quiet, but it wasn't doing its job effectively (static pressure was only 1/5 of this model). I didn't know how important that value was until I was in this situation. The Noctua fan has an almost unlimited life expectancy, this one is dual ball bearing, so probably 50k realistically (not like the sleeve bearing that claims 50k and lasts only a few months).
