Product Description

NF-A9 PWM Header

The NF-A9 is a highly optimised, premium quality quiet 92mm fan. Featuring Noctua’s AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frame as well as sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A9 further improves the renowned quiet cooling performance of the award-winning NF-B9. The PWM version sports Noctua’s custom designed NE-FD1 IC for fully automatic speed control via 4-pin fan headers and comes with a Low-Noise-Adaptor to reduce the maximum speed during PWM control from 2000 to 1550rpm. Its superb running smoothness, reference-class SSO2 bearing and Noctua’s trusted premium quality make it an elite choice for the highest demands.

NF-A9

AAO frame

Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames feature integrated anti-vibration pads as well as Noctua's proprietary Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures, both of which further refine the fan's performance/noise efficiency.

NF-A9 Flow Acceleration Channels

Flow Acceleration Channels

The NF-A9 impeller features suction side Flow Acceleration Channels. By speeding up the airflow at the crucial outer blade regions, this measure reduces suction side flow separation and thus leads to better efficiency and lower vortex noise.

SSO2

SSO2 bearing

The NF-A9 features the further optimised second generation of Noctua's renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability.

NF-A9 AVP

Integrated anti-vibration pads

Integrated anti-vibration pads made from extra-soft silicone minimise the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard screws and other mounting systems.

NF-A9 PWM scope

Scope of delivery

  • NA-RC7 Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A)
  • NA-YC1 4-pin PWM y-cable
  • NA-EC1 30cm extension cable
  • 4x NA-AV1 anti-vibration mounts
  • Fan screws

Inner Surface Microstructures

With the tips of the fan blades ploughing through the boundary layer created by the Inner Surface Microstructures, flow separation from the suction side of the blades is significantly suppressed, which results in reduced blade passing noise and improved airflow and pressure efficiency.

I installed two of these coolers in my Lenovo Thinkstation which has different fan connecters.By filling down the connector I made the Noctua's compatible and now my PC is much quieter.

What's not to like with Noctua's premium fans except perhaps the color? I love how quiet they are for how much air they move. And I love all the accessories, rubber isolation mounts, low speed adapter, cable adapters, etc. Even better after using these some of these fans for close to a decade in server applications I've never had one fail even in 7/24 full time use. That's hugely different than all the Chinese gamer fans where you're lucky if they last a year before they start making noise with their cheap bearings, etc. One Noctua will outlast half a dozen other fans making the Noctua a bargain.

Altamente recomendable.

My Dell PC was getting hot playing some quasi graphic intensive games. The factory fans were just not cutting it, so after reading some reviews, I picked up one of these fans and installed it. The installation, overall, was very easy. I like the fact that they give you a splitter so that you can either add it as an additional fan or use your old fan as a secondary, which is what I did. It was harder to remove the factory fan than it was to install this one. After a good cleaning and installation, my PC was running cooler immediately and when I played my game, it was not running nearly as hot. This led to me purchasing another and adding it to the front of the case to bring in more cool air.The fans are super quiet and the quality is definitely superior to the factory Dell fans. For the price, this is a great and easy upgrade.

I bought a 92mm and 80mm Noctua case fan and so far it really made a difference in terms of noise reduction. I switch Noctua fan with my old one and i thought my PC died on start up because of the sudden drop of noise after 1-2 second of starting up. I can actually hear what is happening inside my PC now due to the fan being almost dead silent. It feels very weird because i never had a Desktop PC this quiet before. The Installation was easy and straight forward. It still comes in a nice looking box. The fan comes with a cable attach, also comes with an extension cord if you need the extra length, the noise reduction cord which i used for both of the fans and really made a huge difference. Along with a few other things. There was no instruction manual (maybe there was) but that was not needed. All you do is plug the fan cord into the noise reduction cord if you want to use it and then plug that into the 4 pin fan slot on the motherboard. Everything should fit together nicely, not much force is needed plugging things together. It comes with 4 screws, use a screw driver to mount the fans in place. This is not really a problem but as people know the color of fans really does not match with everything else. But i don't really look at my CPU so it not a problem for me it. They do have black now or starting to sell black color Noctua Fans. My gaming rig is not big size so these fans handle it fine. The box says a 6 year warranty so that is a plus.Overall i am very impress with the presentation and the quality. It made me want to write a review for it. The CPU noise compare to before these fans is night and day. I never realized how long my CPU noise was before using these fans. Of course this is the first day i am using them as i am writing this review so take it for what you will. Hopefully these fans will last me a good few years at minimum.

This review is for both the 92mm and 80mm versions of this model, 4-wire units with speed controlled by the motherboard. If you're like many consumers, you accept the cooling fans installed by the manufacturer, and look at fans like this and their cost, and say "meh".Ironically, I'm am/was IT professional in the same situation...However, when I finally got around to buying a new server [versus hand-me-down units] for use at home, the fan noise that I accept at work [in a separate IT room] became unacceptable in our home office.Did some research and found this brand. Admittedly there are other makes/models out there and I'm approaching this as a fan newbie...I can summarize our findings by saying that my keen-eared better half questioned whether the server was actually powered on... that much drop in noise levels.Using the server's built-in hardware monitoring, fans are running at about 50% of top RPMs for the case fan [this 92mm] and at about 70% for the CPU fan [an 80mm] and temperature swings have abated along with the noise. These move the air a lot and with their blade design coupled with the cushioned mounts, do it very quietly. The fans ship with a short power jumper that shifts the fan speeds to an even lower range with a drop in maximum speed, and this works quite well, dropping fan noise to totally inaudible. Due to the presence of four 3.5" spinning drives in the server case [and their heat], I erred on the side of caution and restored the fans to their native speed range, with only a slight difference in noise, and no change in temperature/cooling.Based on experience so far, I can't praise this line highly enough...

I have a small, 6-can thermoelectric (Peltier) cooler 'fridge' and the original fan was dying on it. I found this as a replacement. It has the same physical dimensions, a greater CFM flow rate, pulls less current and is quieter than the original fan was. A replacement fridge would have cost from ~$40 to $80 and replacing the fan cost $16.95 so, pretty good deal. It came with a 4-pin extension cable. It has rubber mounts at the corners which, I'm guessing, help with vibration (noise). Looks exactly like the picture and seems to be a quality piece of gear.I cut the cable at the old fan and pulled it out. I used the extension cable (in case I want to use the fan for something else later), cut off the end and soldered the black (ground) and yellow (+12v) wires to the black and red wires in the fridge. Voila! Back in business. The speed control is done by using the PWM wire (blue) and if you don't hook it up, the fan runs at full speed. Actually, I'm getting a 2-for-1 bonus on this fridge: my basement office is cold and it generates a small amount of exhaust heat so, that helps too.
