There are four high quality claws with 0.23inch thickness expanded from the center handle. And there are 4.33inch long from the top to the bottom
On the bottom of the whole grapple hook, there is a thread that helps to open or close the hook by swiveling the handle.

I bought this grappling hook in order to pull tires out of the mud in the Indian river Lagoon. It appears very solid and is easy to use. I was able to manually pull 10 of 11 tires out of the mud. It holds well is very sturdy and I expect I will get very good use out of it I am a little concerned that it showed Rust, the day after I used it. I will be routinely spraying it with anti-compounds.

It's a compact yet heavy duty grappling device. Got this as an impulse buy for my hiking kit. I've tested it on brick/stone walls, large trees, borders/rock (not loose), and windows. Please open the windows before using in a window. I recommend this with the rope as the rope isn't very good.

Was very hard to open but added some white lithium grease and works great! Seems to be pretty strong and will fit in back pack.

This thing is heavy duty. I used it to throw over some branches on a tree that was leaning too close to my shed so that when I cut the tree down it would guide the tree away from the shed. It worked perfectly. Note that throwing a this over a tree branch is a challenge. You definitely want to make sure nobody is around in case you miss. This thing can do some serious damage if it hit somebody. The hook is serrated and pretty sharp so it will grab ahold of whatever you throw it at. Good buy for how sturdy it is.

I used this hook to pull a large fallen tree up to an area where I could cut it up. It survived the extra stress of my using a 2-ton come-along as I pulled it. No damage to the hook. The rope worked, but it is trashed now due to the wire in it breaking and now being a hazard, as others have pointed out. This grappling hook is a good value.

I ordered this grappling hook to use with my magnet 'fishing' kit. I had a small one, but I wanted something that could grab larger objects more securely. This one... this one fills... crap. THIS IS BS. "I'm buying it for my magnet fishing kit!" Yeah, right. That's about as true as "I bought it to pull down tree limbs!" BS. Admit it people. You bought this to BE LIKE BATMAN!!! And this beauty delivers! It is a BEAST! It is the real deal, machined to exacting specifications, and not buffed at all to round off any sharp edges. Hell no! Just taking it out of the box to bask in it's gleaming perfection I managed to cut my finger on the edge of one of the hooks, and it was still folded!! (It was wonderful! I think it's going to leave a scar!) Yes, lots of sharp edges. THIS IS NOT A CHILD'S TOY!!! This is for adults who want to feel like Batman now and then, and who know how to use a grappling hook of this size and weight. Guys, please be careful handling this thing. Just holding it I could feel my testosterone level rise significantly. I started howling in harmony! You know the drill - 'With great power comes great responsibility'. Use this grappling hook carefully and it will always come through for you. Sorry, I had to go hold my grappling hook for a minute. Whew, I was starting to tear up thinking about it. Anyway: This thing delivers. Easy to use, and it more than delivers on all it's specs. Can't beat it for the price!
