Tried this out on a friends suggestion and reading about plastic floor mats that seem to always crack after a while. This bamboo floor mat seems to be very durable and looks nice also. It is about 1/8 inch thick, so you want to get it big so that you don't roll off the edge while seated and moving; Although the edge thickness is rounded, so my chair rolls easily over the edge with out much of a bump or resistance. I also replaced the stupid hard plastic rollers on my chair with softer rubber/silicon type wheels. Much smoother. The old hard plastic rollers scratch up the hardwood floor a lot. The bamboo matt is in sections which unroll flat, but the section are barely noticeable when the chair rolls over them.

I saw this roll-up chair mat at a nearby Staples and I was so upset they sell it in a tan colour but not this dark cherry colour, so I found it on Amazon. It's more expensive on Amazon by ~$14 than at the Staple store though, I think maybe matching the price would be a little more appropriate. (Regular plastic mats at this size should be cheaper at around $45)To start, the package came on time and was secure in a long, tube like packaged box and wrapped inside with a bag over it. Upon opening it, I can very well tell how nice the quality of the material is, thick, strong, had a nice smell of fresh wood and slight rubber, and overall looked beautiful. Yes, it works perfectly fine on thick carpet but it would be more ideal for a thin type of carpet. Just by how it's designed on the bottom, it seems like it's perfectly fine to use on hard wood too with the cloth and rubber circles on the bottom of the mat.My overall review is positive with fast shipping, quality material, beautiful colour, and universal use on carpet or hardwood floors. One of the cons I experienced was the package being a little water damaged and that there was a bump scratched into the mat before I even got to use it. I opened it and I saw the bump. I'm kind of upset with it but I was thinking about how that eventually my office chair will scratch it up anyway so I just decided to ignore it. I wouldn't mind a refund since it's a pretty big bump but even if not, I'll still keep it.Picture 1: The mat I saw at Staples but in a different colour and a price at about $79.99 at 44" x 52" (with lip).Pictures 2 & 3: The mat I got yesterday with the damage/indent. I'm not super happy about it but it's fine I suppose.

Looks terrific. Small computer chair wheels are hard to move from floor to rug.

exactly what we needed. Chair for computer was wearing the rug and this mat solved the problem. Wider slats are a plus. Solidly made.

My girlfriend pointed me to these chairmats after we debated on how to handle the situation for my home office which has hardwood floors. I wanted to a chair with wheels because they present a more ergonomic option for me and since I have a bad back it was paramount that I find a way to get a wheeled chair for my office without scratching the crap out of the wood floors (a moot point now that our dogs have basically clawed it to death) and so I bought this in the hope that A) it would match the hard wood floors and sort of blend in and B) I could find something that could lay on the hard wood floors without those prickly bottoms that all chairmats have for carpeted floors as that obviously would tear up the hard wood floors.Well, sad to say I was off on wish A but what can you expect, there's so many types of wood that I would imagine it impossible to find one. But point B was a success, the bottom of this chairmat is actually a rug, it grips the floor perfectly, it's impossible to move when I'm on the chair or even when i try to sweep it to a different spot with my foot. Very sturdy, can be rolled up and moved if you have it in a public space like I do in my living room and when I have company over. Comes with a green bag (like those recyclable bags for groceries at Trader Joe's) for storage.I'm very happy I found these, they are awesome, hope it lasts me for a long time!

Anji Mountain Bamboo Office Chairmat.I have only used this for a few weeks. However, I can see how this is going to last much longer than the plastic chair mats I have used in the past which lasted one year or less. What was unexpected was how much larger in size (55"x57") it was over the plastic chair mat (45"x53") it replaced.Be sure you have room for the floor mat around your desk in the office, cubicle or area in which it is to be used. The natural color looks good on the floor. It seems to match the oak colored furniture fairly well. Its weight and felt backing seems to hold it in place over carpeting fairly well.Do not know if you would use this on hard flooring. They recommend the use of chairs with soft polyurethane or soft rubber chair casters.I am using plastic casters - not sure how this will effect the life of the product.I don't care if the plastic casters scratch the surface. The mat is 5 millimeters thick - thicker than the plastic. The edges are rounded but if you roll off it will be a bit of a drop. They probably can't bevel down the thickness near the edges. However, with the larger size, I will never roll off the mat so the bevel thickness near the edges is unneccessary. The chair mat rolls up as it is formed of about 29 two inch slats. It came with a carrying case as well if you ever do need to move it.Overall, I think these are much superior to the plastic chairmats. However, you are going to pay more.I have not seen the new glass type chairmats to compare against. However, I think the glass chairmats are one piece so they should be even more expensive to purchase and to ship than these bamboo mats.
