Wine culture can be stuffy, pretentious, and intimidating. We created Sommify as a way to have fun with your friends while accidentally learning to blind taste like the Somms.
Transform Your Night Into A Tasting
Guestsbring their own “mystery wines” and take turns guessing the grape and origin of what they taste. Novices often guess right, so sip your cheap Pinot freely and show off your sophistication.
Do I need to know anything about wine beforehand?
Absolutely not! A love for wine and desire to learn helps. The Sommify Tasting Method is the simplest form of blind-tasting around and can be taught in 2 minutes, using the Sommify Wine Key. You'd be amazed at how many amateurs win the night.
Whats In The Box!
- Sommify Tasting Board
- 27 Bottle Shock Cards - A chance for good luck or misfourtune
- 6 Sommify Wine Keys - Each participants guide and tool to deducing what each wine is
- 6 Dry-Erase Markers - To keep track of your tasting notes
- 6 Pawns - You know to mark your place throughou the tasting
Each round guests choose a “Somm” to pour participants a glass from the mystery wine they brought.
Guessing time! Guestsuse deductive tasting and provided Sommify categories to guess the country and grape of the mystery wine.
Players forge through Cellar Doors and advance by using Sommify hints to guess characteristics of the mystery wine.
The tasting is over after a guest guesses the mystery wine. The "Somm" tallies guesses accumulated throughout the tasting and reveals the mystery wine!

Married duo Conner and Jessica Taylor created this experience as a way to study for the Sommelier (Level 2) exam. The traditional method of studying for blind tasting is joining tasting groups. Stuffy! Why couldn't a tasting group be more like a boozy game night?
These two started prototyping weekly with friends. It worked well enough for Conner to pass his Somm exam as well as the WSET III.
Sommify uses the same classic wines used in the blind tasting portions of these exams.

It’s construction is of high quality and it’s beautifully designed!The directions are easy to read and follow. It’s perfect for a game night with friends, a couples night, a girls night, or even as entertainment after a dinner party. (It would also be a great gift for a wine lover!)This game teaches you how to hone your wine tasting skills so that you can develop a heightened palette.Sommify combines the best of both worlds: Playing an awesome board game while enjoying wine! Very fun evening for everyone, regardless of wine knowledge. In fact, the least experienced person was the overall winner in my first hosting of this game.I would really recommend this game to wine enthusiasts with partners who don't get it (yet)

I have a several friends who if they want absolutely anything, they buy it for themselves. Makes it nearly impossible to give them gifts. I have never reviewed a purchase before but I have spent hours of my life gift shopping, and this was the perfect solution. Something they've never seen before and great for mixing up game night!

I'm in the wine world and my partner is one of those casual wine people. We played this with my sister and her partner who know very little about wine. It was super fun and an easy way to teach them about how you go about tasting wine professionally. I'm betting if I played with a bunch of people in the industry they would enjoy it also.A great gift for the holidays as people get together and drink in order to have some fun competition!

A great game for a party and a good excuse to drink a lot of wine. Some of the cards do impart knowledge but are also super cheesy. The only challenge is that we found ourselves departing from the structure of the game and basically guessing wines and tasting notes on our own partly because some players are seasoned wine drinkers.

This is a great game to learn how to taste wine. It’s simple to learn and the card with the dry erase markers are excellent. We had a ton of fun with the game and look forward to take it on cruises where we taste different wines! Great gift for any wine lover
