This wine aroma kit is not created by oenology professionals. In the manual, the author writes that aromas are additives in wine; however, this is not how wine is made... Even if the packaging looks nice, the issue is the quality of the aromas. Many aromas are weak (all citrus family aromas, peach, tomato....even kerosene...), you get twice vinegar, and useful aromas such as corked wine are completely unrealistic. Cut grass aroma smells like lemon, blackberry smells like red fruit soap.... I don’t recommend it.

I was nervous ordering this due to the reviews but thankfully mine came in one piece with nothing broken, spilled, or evaporated that I’ve noticed. The smell is a little chemically, I do get that, but it’s not overpowering. The box came slightly damaged as the leather was stuck together and it ripped when we pulled it apart. Other than that, it is a gorgeous and beautiful product! I got it as a gift and it was a hit!!! Everyone was awed by the idea and execution. If the box wasn’t slightly damaged it would’ve been perfect.

Love pulling this out when we have guests over. The bottles are a little quirky to get to the scent. I usually wind up with some of it on my hand but it’s a nice box.

For a product that is supposed to be created by sommeliers, there is an astounding number of oddities I discovered. First, the spelling of certain varietals was alarming. “Souvignon Blanc”, “Nebiolo”, etc. Second, diacritics (accents) were nowhere to be found, such as the ü in Gewürztraminer. Finally, and quite possibly the most baffling oddity, was the verbiage when oftentimes describing specific ingredients and their role in wine production. The author stated on numerous occasions that individual ingredients (be it, black pepper, ginger, coffee, tomato {paste or purée lol} etc.) are added during the vinification process to create wine complexity. This makes it seem like wine is created using “a dash of this, a pinch of that”, as if winemakers are cooking a country stew. What in the actual…lol. I assumed this was for somm education. Will try the French master kit next time. 😊

This is a very bad aroma kit. Most aromas have strong chemical odors, and many of them seem to have the same smell. Some bottles are leaking, and to be able to smell the aroma from a bottle, you need to use your fingernails every time, leaving liquid on your finger, which is very annoying. I purchased this kit because it seemed to be the best price offer, but I regret it now.
