From the Manufacturer

Since 1972, Amana Tool has been producing router bits and has become the global leader in its field. In fact, the company was the first manufacturer to produce router bits according to the Holz BG German standard for safety and quality. This standard contains rules that determine the structure and quality of the tool's material in order to create the safest environment for the user. From its beginning, Amana Tool has always used the highest quality materials, and its tools are produced using unique technologies, a majority of which were developed and built by the company's engineers following decades of testing and experience. For example, Amana Tool uses carbon alloy steel for its router bits that contains vanadium particles. This improves the structural integrity of the steel and prevents corrosion and defects in the internal structure of the material that can lead to cracks and breaks. High-tech machinery processes the carbon alloy steel to manufacture the router bodies in a single clamping. This yields router bits with superior balance, centricity, precision and symmetry. The New Generation of Straight Bit Technology! Use a two-flute bit where fine finish is paramount. Two flutes balance the bit, eliminating vibration that degrades the cut finish. Two cuts per revolution yield a smooth surface.

I am a fan of Amana tool and have several other bits of theirs that are great, but something went wrong with this bit. I was using my router table routing a straight line in some maple doing shallow cuts with each pass. I was almost done when suddenly the board was violently thrown across the workshop! after picking up the board I looked at the router table and noticed the bit broke in half near where the shank tapers into the blades.luckily the broken bit fell into the cavity of the router table and didn't injure me. The bit was brand new and only had about 15 minutes of use on it. I noticed a few other people had this problem so it must be a design flaw or poor quality metal used in this bit. So now I'm going to get a 1/4 inch straight Whiteside bit as a replacement.

I have a few 1/4" tools but I turn to this one from Amana more than the others. I've owned it nearly 3 years and put it through MDF, plywoods and weathered pallet scraps. This week I cut 1,886 inches in 15/32" birch veneered plywood from the hardware store and the cut quality was so good you could shave with it. I run 18k rpm, full width .250 DOC, 45ipm feed, 27ipm plunge/ramp, 2 degree ramp angle, 20ipm for inner/outer corners. Keep the toolpath clear of packed sawdust since it doesn't have a spiral to self-eject.

Considero que lo mas importante es: 1.-el material de su fabricación, 2.- el diseño de la disposición de cuchillas así como de la fortaleza de su acabado.lo utilizo en la elaboración de un auxiliar de carpintería: Guía para cortar espigas y cajas.

I needed to make a stopped groove 1/4 inch wide and 1 inch deep for the pocket to accept the tongue on the end of a breadboard. This Amana bit# 45210 was the perfect size. I set it up on my router table to make a plunge cut with a start and stop block to help guide the workpiece through the cut. Taking several cuts in small increments I was able to rout out the grooves for a perfect fit.The bit is super sharp and very well made, high quality for a good price!

Used to cut some mortises in red oak. Nice smooth cut. Very pleased.

I needed to rout mortises in cabinet doors for Soss invisible hinges Soss's template is 3/4" thick, which meant that the bits I had couldn't go deep enough. This is the longest bit I could find (3".) The shearing action of the bit made very clean mortises. Very satisfied and I would recommend this bit.

I do quite a bit of CNC work, so I go through a lot of quarter-inch bits as that's one of the most common sizes I use. It's surprising how a down cut bit that's $40 only last a few sessions, and it's wiped out. Lately I've been going to 2 flute bits instead of the standard up cut or down cut bits. This particular one is much sharper right out of package than some others I've tried, Timerline, Whiteside, CMT. CMT is one of the worst ones. One session that was a few hours dulled that bit. I'm happy to report that this one is the leader of the pack so far. Plunges very nicely, and seem just a sharp after a number of hours of cutting oak. No burning whatsoever. I tend to use at 12,000 RPM, and slow plunge rates down to about 20-25 IPM. In general I find slowing down plunge rates extends the life of CNC bits considerably. It's not the straight cuts that get you, it's plunging that can burn a bit up. I tend to ramp my bits into the work where possible, but this is not possible with a lot of 3-D work. This bit plunges very nicely and cleanly. Even nicer than some bits that cost three times the price.I highly recommend this. So far I've been extremely impressed with the Amana brand. I used one of their spoil board bits, and the results were simply outstanding. I think I will be purchasing more of the Amana brand. Just ordered my second quarter-inch bit to have on hand, but my current one is showing no signs of dulling.
