From the Manufacturer

Since 1972, Amana Tool has been producing router bits and has become the global leader in its field. In fact, the company was the first manufacturer to produce router bits according to the Holz BG German standard for safety and quality. This standard contains rules that determine the structure and quality of the tool's material in order to create the safest environment for the user. From its beginning, Amana Tool has always used the highest quality materials, and its tools are produced using unique technologies, a majority of which were developed and built by the company's engineers following decades of testing and experience. For example, Amana Tool uses carbon alloy steel for its router bits that contains vanadium particles. This improves the structural integrity of the steel and prevents corrosion and defects in the internal structure of the material that can lead to cracks and breaks. High-tech machinery processes the carbon alloy steel to manufacture the router bodies in a single clamping. This yields router bits with superior balance, centricity, precision and symmetry. The New Generation of Straight Bit Technology! Use a two-flute bit where fine finish is paramount. Two flutes balance the bit, eliminating vibration that degrades the cut finish. Two cuts per revolution yield a smooth surface.

The bit cut very well and the diameter was accurate. Beware of router startup torque while the bit is near the stock to be cut; I snapped one bit very easily. The bit is only 1/8 inch in diameter; couple that with a cutting edge leaves little metal to support the bit; as a result the bit can be easily broken.

I use these to cut circular openings in the 3/8" Baltic birch plywood, using Ridgid compact router and Rockler circular cutting jig. To my surprise, I am able to cut the circle in one pass - at full 3/8" depth and highest RPM - without the router bogging down. After a completed cut, the bit is still cool to the touch. The edge quality is very good, needing almost no sanding - see the photo. In fact, this one gives me a better quality than the Whiteside spiral up-cut bit which I also own: the up-cut bit produces some splintering; I haven't tried the down-cut bit though. Subjectively, this Amana bit also moves through the plywood smoother, perhaps having to do something with their "superior geometric" design, but that's up for interpretation.Considering that it's a little cheaper too, you can't go wrong. All in all, highly recommended.

Very sharp and well made in Israel. Just for the record, the cutter tip is solid carbide but the shank is not. That appears to be HSS. When I read the title that said "Solid Carbide" I assumed it was 100% carbide, as is the case for some other 1/4" shank bits that I have. Not so. Just a point of clarification for anyone who makes the same assumption.

It probably works okay but I am am a bit afraid to try it. I am disappointed by the quality control of this supposed quality manufacturer. This one was clearly hit more than once on the grinder and therefore may be slightly out of balance. There is an extra grind mark on one of the cutters. I'll keep it as a spare in case I break another one.
