I had memories of my terrible cheap compasses from my childhood. Bought my kids this one, and it's like. dream. I'm drawing with it just for fun. Easy to be precise, as the little wheel helps lock in the width. A quality instrument at a very nice price.

I have not used a compass since I was in High School and I had found memories of using one in drafting class. Currently I got into wood working and needed one for doing my designs. This fit the bill perfectly and I'm well pleased with the quality and how well it works.

I’ve used this a few times on a wood project. Easy and fun to use. Goes right back into the plastic holder it came in. I needed a rubber band to keep the cover on though. What a deal!

I generally stay away from quick release compasses except for Alvin. They are awesome. If I know I will be drawing a lot of circles for sacred geometry - this is my go to compasses. I’ve tried a dozen and this one is the most study.Note that it does draw pretty light - which can be a. Try good thing.

Some of the time when I used the compass the thing reset itself to its starting position. It definitely is not sturdy. However it is very easy to use when it does not fall apart. Great compass if only it was a bit more study.

Got tired of cheap compass/protractor sets I purchased for my freshman son in high school. They all broke within few days. He needs this for a daily use in Honor geometry class. I bought few of the cheap ones and all of them broke within few days. This one was a bit pricey but the product quality is amazing. No wonder it is much pricier. My son also loves how well-built it is and also how smooth it is to use it without any wobbling or failing to do its job.

Broke on the first use. Was trying to draw a 12 inch diameter circle... The wheel in the middle is what controls its size ... The bigger the circle the harder it is to turn. Once I got it to 12 inches it was so difficult to get it to turn back to a smaller circle ... It refused to turn back and ended up breaking. :( Not worth the money.

This is the most well made compass I have seen in years. It is made in Germany. The vertical beams are metal and are1/4" thick and well over a 1/4 inch wide (.300). The expansion wheel rides seamlessly; no slipping. The feel is absolutely secure. The compass point is turned to a needle point. The lead is ground to a flat point. The compass comes with two extra leads, and believe it or not an additional needle point; all three packaged in a plastic tube. The price is great. (As a small aside, you can open the plastic container without losing your finger nails.)
