Excellent straight edge ruler (with scales) – triangular shape makes it easy to position and hold in place while marking / drawing lines. Perfect for when straight edges (and accurate measurements) are required.Comes with a nice carrying (storage) case as well. Highly recommend.

I ordered this because I needed a triangular scale to do drawing and planning. I was tired of my fingers getting in the way. The accuracy on my ruler is excellent and I do appreciate that I can put it up in a corner vertically. Excellent value.

This virtually indestructible but still lightweight ruler is what I would expect from Alvin, which is more or less the gold standard for drafting materials. The finish on the one I received is smooth and without faults, the markings are clear and precise. It's very relaxing to have a well-made tool I don't have to fuss over and worry about destroying if I accidentally put something heavy on it, as I have to do with plastic things. Recommended.

This engineering triangle rule is aluminum and comes in a clear plastic sleeve. The measurement marking are etched in clear black markings and are easy to read. I had a plastic one prior that fell off of my desk and was damaged making it unusable. I have found this ruler is a lot more durable and a stronger design. Recommend.

This is a nice stainless steel triangular ruler. I got the engineer model. I am impressed by how easy it is to read and use. Some earlier reviewers mentioned that the sides were too sharp, had burrs, and were not properly finished. I didn’t feel this was the case. I think the ruler will prove durable and it comes in a storage case that will protect it.

Having teenagers at home means that personal items often disappear or get commandeered for school projects. I’ve lost count of how many rulers I’ve owned over the years, only to find them missing when I need them most. That’s when I decided to get the ALVIN Aluminum Engineer Triangular Scale, and it has proven to be a reliable tool that I can count on. I knew that if I got a unique, professional-grade ruler like this one, it would be less likely to be “borrowed” or misplaced by my kids, and that has proven to be true. The 12-inch length is just right for my needs, whether I’m using it for simple measurements or more detailed tasks like woodworking. What I didn’t realize at first was how useful the different scales are. This triangular scale is marked with multiple measurements, including those for architectural and engineering drawings, which have come in handy in both my personal projects and when tackling precision wood markups. The various scales allow for precise measurements in imperial units, making it versatile for any number of tasks, from creating plans to measuring material cuts for woodworking projects.I’ve found that the aluminum construction adds to the durability of the ruler. It’s lightweight yet feels solid, providing the confidence I need when I’m working on projects that require exact measurements. In woodworking, where precision is key, this ruler is a great asset for ensuring everything lines up properly, whether I'm marking out dimensions for furniture or checking the accuracy of angles. The hollow design also makes it easy to handle, offering a comfortable grip even when I'm working for extended periods. The engraved markings are sharp and easy to read, making it quick to find the right scale for the job. I’ve had other rulers that wear out or become difficult to read after heavy use, but this one maintains its clarity and reliability. In all, the ALVIN Aluminum Engineer Triangular Scale has become an essential tool in my collection. Whether I’m dealing with a home improvement project, teaching my kids about design and measurements, or simply trying to keep track of my own tools, this ruler has been incredibly useful. It’s durable, precise, and just the right size for a variety of applications. If you’re looking for a tool that will last and provide the accuracy you need, I highly recommend this one.

First, the good. The ruler is well marked, though the scales are printed. The concave aspect of the sides help with working overhead. That's nice. It's got a nice feel to it.However, I don't know if I've ever seen such a messy extrusion surface. The molds impart quite a random texture to the rule with one side showing a pretty deep groove right through the numbers. Also, other than knocking off the sharp corners left when cutting the extrusion to length, I don't think any work was done to ease the edges to take care of the burr left or even the heavy texture left from whatever cut it. Some sanding time will help if you buy one of these. This could have been a pretty quick automated brush operation during finishing in my opinion.
