About this item

  • Engineered to add horsepower and reduce restriction compared to OEM air intakes
  • All AEM Air Intakes come with a lifetime DRYFLOW Synthetic air filter with great filtration
  • Manufactured in the USA

AEM Air Intake Systems are designed to produce massive horsepower and torque gains as well as better engine sound when used as a replacement for the factory airbox and air filter. AEM intake systems are designed, tuned, and dyno-tested to fit specific cars and trucks. These air intakes usually include an oversized AEM Dryflow synthetic washable air filter for outstanding air flow, filtration, and performance while allowing easy oil-free cleaning. Most AEM intake systems use mandrel-bent aluminum intake tubes, powder coated heat shields, and high quality hardware designed to reduce restriction and reduce intake temperature. The design and components of each intake system vary so consult the installation instructions for more information on the contents of each part number. AEM manufactures a variety of intake kit styles including short ram intakes, cold air intakes, dual-chamber intakes, Brute Force intakes for trucks and SUV's, and Brute Force HD intakes for diesel applications.

This product is designed to improve airflow into your engine. While many people state that this will add horsepower, I am not sure if it does. I have not dyno-tested it and cannot back up these statements. What I can tell you is that it has a nice red finish, you can really hear the intake noise around 3000 rpm and up, and installation was a breeze. The intake is of quality materials and looks great in the engine bay. If you plan on tuning your car, this is a great place to start.

no I did not buy this to be cool at stop lights or to get girls! Im 30 years old and an ex-mechanic, what do i do when my airbox cracks and hoses tear? I price out the OEM replacement! then i explore options that dont cost $500. option 1, junk yard, but every good engine is gone and the airbox usually gets sold with it, secondly most junk yards just take a fraction off the oem price any way so you dont save much. Option 2: get one of these "ricer mod" aluminium pipes with a cone filter. my complaints: the maf sensors never fit, they either wont seal because the hole is bored 1/8" too big, the bolt holes dont line up or they get so much powder coat material into the holes that you have to ream them for an hour. second complaint: they are loud, guys with small...well you konw, find that fantastic, guys like me dont need extra attention, especially when cops can now hear you coming from even further away and can sit back and wait for you to cruise on by! other than that they do their job, the engine does breath better, i have noticed some SLIGHT mpg gain on the highway cruising at like 70-75 (about 1-2 mpg increase) due to less restriction. the hp gain? HA no!!!!! trust me, "Short ram intakes" do not produce hp gains in the real world, they are sucking hot air (less dense, less O2) the only gains are mild trottle response gains, alot of noise and maybe on a really cold day with the cruise control on in 5th gear 1-2 mpg over the usual 28-29ish. the biggest question however: yes it looks good, very nice powder coating, washable filter, all necessary fittings and couplers, and of course the most important of all... tons of stickers and the license plate frame! that said if you have to replace the airbox/hoses on a 2003+ mitsubishi lancer (ralliart) and you want to stay under $200, AEM makes the best quality noise pipe on the market, its not quite there, as mentioned before the MAF sensor hole is way to big and with out an oversized o-ring it will leak and trip the dreaded check-engine light but if you can figure that out it will do the trick and make your engine compartment look like a brightly colored miniture water park.
