These are substantial, I like the look and feel of them. The one drawback is that if you want to catch all 3 screw holes you will have to have backing in your wall. That of course requires some serious thinking ahead or in the case of a retrofit as is my case, forget about it. I considered putting a decorative strip that would double as backing over the drywall but elected not to as it's a narrow stairway.

These adjustable rail brackets work exactly as I hoped they would. I am using them outdoors, so I hope they turn out to be durable (too soon to tell). The materials and build seem to be good quality and they angle enough fore my stairs. I did use different screws, though.

I really just wanted a handrail that looked somewhat similar to the rest of my porch. But, everything I attempted to put up, ended up looking so out of place. My porch is just wood. I wanted something plain and not extravagant, something that kinda matched. Finally, I came across these. It hadn't occurred to me to just cut the wood myself and use brackets like these - I didn't even realize I could gte brackets like these. Anyway, they are perfect. It doesn't matter what they look like, because once you affix the wood to the brackets, you don't see them. Perfect! Very easy, and the answer to my quest. Also, they are strong, solid, and have no chance of deterioration. Terrific!

The product is as solid as it looks but has 2 problems:1. The screws that fix the brackets to the wall are too short (assuming 1/" drywall)2. The bracket angle isn't adjustable beyond 35-40 degrees. I have run of stairs that is at a 45 degree angle. When the bracket is square (see level in first photo) the bracket will not pivot into a 45 degree position. There is a fix for this and any other steeper staircase...if you have a bench grinder. If you look at the second and third photo, I have removed the adjustable bracket (hex bolt can be removed) and reduced the radius (semicircle around the bolt) by grinding down the radius on only half of the radius (This took me 5 min with a small grinder). Reinstall it with ground section pointing down the stairs.Note: Do not remove any more material than you have to.Note: Yes you are removing part of the finish but, it isn't noticeable. For the purist, you can always apply a bit of paint.

These RealPlus Swivel Handrail Brackets are well made and finished.I like the ability to adjust the angle of these brackets and to be able to place them at the location you desire instead of having to accept the fixed spacing of pre-made rails and brackets. With the pre-mades just mentioned, you can't always hit your wall studs and that's a no-go for me. I am of the opinion that the more solid the mount, the safer the installation...and drywall mounting just doesn't fit the bill.If you are adding to existing rails, the pre-made metal rails are not going to match your wooden rails as an example. These RealPlus Swivel Handrail Brackets allow me to match my existing wood rail on the west side with a new rail addition for the east side of my interior stairs.

Very solid supports. Only issue is that all 3 screw holes in the brackets won't fit on a standard wall stud. I slanted the bracket so the top and bottom lined up with the stud, and used a hollow wall anchor for the 3rd hole. Also used 2 1/2" screws instead of smaller supplied screws. Very happy with the results. Took one star off due to supplied screws were too small.

Absolutely loved these! Sturdy and well built and beautiful. Be careful on any project that gets inspected. Caveat - These brackets will cause many stair rails to exceed the 4 1/2" Maximum Projection of Railing From Wall unless you attach them directly to the wall (which looks great).
