Works great with my old phone rotary phone. Most rotary phones can still receive calls without an adapter but can't make calls as the new phone networks don't recognize the signal the rotary dial makes. This adapter solves that issue. In addition, because it can receive calls without the adapter, I compared the audio quality without and with the adapter between the wire, and there was no noticeable difference.

I finally got around to hooking this up, unfortunately beyond the return date, but I could not get it to work. I connected the unit's wires as shown in the photos but to no avail. I got a dial tone either way I connected them but it would not dial a number. I have Xfinity VOIP phone service if that helps. It could be the problem. I will give it the benefit of the doubt.

I tried to used this with my 1950s Western Electric model 500 C/D I was able to get the dial tone and the red light came on when I took the receiver off the hook, but it did not dial the pulses to tone and I was not able to get it to dial out successfully. I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt and maybe it was broken or not compatible with my system with 2 stars. For how expensive it was I expected it to work…

I have a Ooma with a Viking RG-10 ring booster and an old bell phone. With the ring booster the phone receives calls perfectly. I put this device inline between the ring booster and the phone and dialed a number... nothing. I swapped Tip and Ring. Still nothing. Returning.

I was so excited to finally purchase this as it was out of stock for a long time. When it arrived I immediately installed it. Unfortunately, it did not work. I wish that I had read the reviews before purchasing as one review states that magicJack does not have enough wattage to power it. Maybe in the future someone will make one that utilizes a separate power supply. Sure, it will cost more money because of the power supply but it could, also, it be installed at the POE so that only one unit would be needed for all rotary phones on the system. How cool would that be? I 'd be the first in line to buy one.

Es la mejor manera de exhibir un teléfono analógico con sistema Rotary funcionando. Llama mucho la atención a las personas mas jóvenes que nunca tuvieron oportunidad de conocer este nostálgico aparato.

Supposedly when it works the red light will illuminate. If it doesn't you can try swapping your wires around. I don't understand why they tell you to try wiring it up to the screw marked line 2.I noticed one of the screws is stripped out in the plastic and just spins around so it's not going to make a good electrical connection. It turns out two of the screws are short and one of them is long. It's the one of the short screws that spins around. The phone I purchased is from Oldphoneworks and has a new modular cord. Connecting to this product screws ended up being a challenge.Nothing worked for me. I got dial tone but it would never dialed the phone and it would never send out tones. My VOIP phone service is provided by Ooma.Unfortunately I trusted this company and I tried it too late to send it back and so I'm stuck with trash from this company.

I was able to install the device correctly, however, Magic Jack doesn't provide enough power to generate the DTMF. It might work for a standard landline. It works exactly as designed.
