Note:
1. Please don't forget to set the audio output to PCM or LPCM as it is not compatible with 5.1 Channel Signal, such as Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1, Dolby-AC3.
2.Set your TV's Audio Output to the PCM/LPCM Format. (Steps: Device homepage--system setting--image and sound---voice setting--digital audio output--PCM/LPCM).
3.PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim can not use this converter as they haven't Optical fiber output interface.
4.For Samsung TV, if there is no sound even you set the audio output to the PCM/LPCM format, please turn on the TV external speakers (Menus-Sounds- Speaker Setup- HESB/external speaker-ON).
5.For Panasonic TV as audio resource, please set TV audio output to SPDIF output.
6.NOT cormpatible with Youtube or Netflix. Can work well with Blu-ray Plaver, HD DVD, TV Box, Gare Consoles, HDTV etc.
7.The TV is connected to the sound system through the optical interface, so the volume button on the remote control cannot be directly used to adjust the output volume of the TV optical. (If the TV supports this feature which depends on the TV itself ).

Product works as expected. It says the description of power adapter is not included, but actually includes a USB power adapter. So I am retracting my previous negative review.

This let me use my big tube amp when the other failed. The optical was run in the wall already so this gave perfect sound. It's the long run that matters if it's optical or not, so I did not want to buy and install a super long RCA to RCA cord from the TV to the amp.

Unless you need a bunch of these for a large deployment or your TV/monitor doesn't have *any* stereo output (and you need something CHEAP and NOW), please do yourself a favor and spend the few extra bucks on a better quality unit. It's noticeably worse than the analog outputs on basically every device I've compared it to.

It is good but not easy set up as you require a few connectors. The system is good and the bluetooth is easy to connect.

Used the device to connect my TV optical out connection to my stereo receiver via the included RCA to mini-plug adapter. Set up was quick and used the available USB port for power. Issue was the optical cables did not fit well into the device itself and the TV. The connectors are not sized properly. had to fit in as well as I could and use electrical tape to hold them in place. Sound out was good, especially for the money.

This dongle serves my needs and makes my unorthodox setup and simple as I can allow it. Trying to run your PC’s audio through the HDMI to the TV that has an optical out but no 3.5 mm output so you can play all your audio through a 1980’s stereo receiver that’s pushing the best $100 bookshelf speakers you could find on Amazon? GET. THIS. LITTLE. BOX. This is as simple as it gets. I searched for HDMI selectors that also had this functionality, but I couldn’t find one that had the specs or price I wanted, so I copped this guy and I’ll get an HDMI switcher to use as well some other time. This one also runs sufficient on the power supply of the USB port on the TV. No need for another thing plugged into the power strip that’s probably got way too much stuff plugged into it already anyway. I HAVE CREATED A MONSTER!!!

Great performance for the price! Using it to play sound from a new tv through my older Sansui stereo receiver, sounds great! The audio output of this converter is clear and sounds very good, from watching tv to playing hifi music with the Tidal tv app.

As great as LG OLED televisions are, there are not as many inputs as there are creative ideas to use hi-fi equipment. Case in point is my superb audiophile Boston Acoustics subwoofer. This converter utilizes the television Optical Audio jack. Connect the optical cable running from the TV into the converter and then standard RCA audio cables to your powered subwoofer or speakers. It’s a great way to combine the built in sound on better modern televisions with added bass always lacking even on the best TVs. Now I don’t have to bother with an AV receiver when all we really need is better, balanced sound. In my case, the adjustable crossover dial built into the powered sub does its job to balance the sound between the television speakers and the subwoofer.

Easy to hook up, Happy with the converter.After 2.5 months I ended up with a problem. It stopped working. 1 email to the company and they were happy to send out another. The person I dealt with was so attentive making me feel at ease. The new one showed up today and works perfectly. I will definitely look for that company whenever I need something. 5 stars!
