Rack exceeded expectation in quality of product and aesthetics. Powder coating was great glossy black finish that looks resilient to weathering and scratches a perfect match for my truck. Assembly was intuitive and clamps for rail mounting are solid. Metal piping is a thick gage and appears rigid and robust without being excessively heavy. However, the most impressive part of my interaction with AA Products was the service. One of the L bars had welding slag in the attached nut so hex bolt wouldn't screw in without stripping the threads. That was an annoyance and I was dreading having to deal with a customer service call but the customer support was unbelievable.I was on hold for less than a minute and a real person that I could understand answered the phone, I didn't need to get transferred at all and when I explained the problem, Raymond said he would get me taken care of and send out the parts the same day. He requested a picture of the part to make sure they sent the correct one. I texted it to him and he returned the text less than 10 minutes later with a picture of the parts he was sending (extra bolts and caps "just in case"). Then followed up with another text within the hours with the Fed Ex tracking number. Easiest least painful customer service call I have ever had. Great job Raymond and AA Products!

Use it on my 2017 Tacoma. Tough. Looks good. Pack ladders, kayaks and a small boat all the time. Have had no issues with it. Would buy again.

You have to put a wrench on the hand bolts to get the kayak holder to stay mostly put. The rack it's self is solid.

My package arrived with a large hole in the outer box. I found that one box of C-Clamps was missing from the box. I contacted customer support and within minutes a new box of C-clamps was on my way. This was perhaps one of the best customer support experiences i have hade. The rack it self was extremely easy to assemble and I was able to to so in about 5 minutes. Great product.

I think this is a great rack. They give you all hardware for bolting to the truck or using clamps. I will end up bolting it on in time for more security.Only issue I have is the j racks won't stay in place when loading 11.5 lifetime Yukon kayaks. They want to roll over. It is easily rectified when you get in the truck to strap them down however. They stay in place when strapped. It is quite a reach to place them on a f150 4x4 so I made a pole to hook into the bow or stern handle of the yack to lift it. Works fine. Very sturdy, will be able to haul lumber and ladders when not being used for yacks.

Have had many truck racks over the years. From top dollar to discount models, I have tried many of them. However, this year I needed a quick easy kayak rack for my 1 ton dually. I could have spent any amount on one but I figured I wouldn't use it that much so I wanted to get an inexpensive one that was quick and easy to put on and remove. This rack by AA surprised me. No only was it on the lower price range but was almost as good as the ones I paid $1000 for. Quick and easy to assemble and holds the boats very well. The best thing, due to a freight company error, I had use their customer service. GREAT is not a good enough word to describe it. By all means, if you want a good rack for little money, this is the rack for you!

OVERALL I'M PRETTY SATISFIED WITH THE RACK. IT IS WHAT IT IS AND THAT IS A $300+ RACK THAT YOU ASSEMBLE AND NOT A $1,200 RACK THAT YOU BUY FROM YOUR LOCAL TRUCK ACCESSORY STORE. THAT BEING SAID IT SEEMS TO BE PRETTY STURDY. USED IT FOR THE 1ST TIME THIS PAST WEEKEND AND OTHER THAN ONE OF THE J CRADLES SLIDING OVER A FEW INCHES IT WORKED GREAT. OPENED UP THE BED OF THE TRUCK FOR ALL OF OUR OTHER CAMPING GEAR... WHICH WAS THE PLAN RIGHT?THE INSTRUCTIONS WE'RE PRETTY SIMPLE TO FOLLOW AND IT WENT TOGETHER PRETTY EASY AND QUICKLY. SHOULD I DECIDE TO TAKE THEM OFF WHEN NOT IN USE I WILL BE BUYING AN ALLEN HEAD BIT FOR MY DEWALT IMPACT DRIVER JUST TO HELP SPEED UP THE INSTALL AND REMOVAL FROM THE TRUCK AS WELL MAKE IT A LITTLE EASIER ON THESE OLD HANDS.THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT I HAVE IS WITH THE PACKAGING. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS UPS DIDN'T TREAT IT WITH KID GLOVE HANDS. BUT IT IS BIG AND BULKY AND CAME ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THAT BEING SAID MAYBE THE SHIPPER COULD USE A HEAVIER WEIGHT BOX TO HELP PROTECT THEIR PRODUCT BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH EVERY PIECE WAS NICELY WRAPPED IN BUBBLE WRAP IT STILL HAD DAMAGE FROM BEING KNOCKED AROUND AND THE METAL RUBBING BACK AND FORTH. SURPRISINGLY ONLY 1 PIECE HAD DAMAGE THAT WAS DOWN TO THE BARE METAL. I SENT A LETTER TO THE AA RACK STORE WHERE I PURCHASED THESE AND I HAVE YET TO HEAR BACK. MAYBE THEY'LL SEE THIS REVIEW AND CONTACT ME. IF NOT... IT IS WHAT IT IS.

Installed this rack in my 2018 F-150 short bed (5-1/2ft) and works great. I’m a female in my early 40’s and put this together myself in about 2 hours. Comes in a large box with all rack bars wrapped in bubble wrap. Saddles are each individually boxed with their own hardware.Comes with hardware to either drill into your bed rail or clamp for non-drill option. I went with the clamps/non-drill and they are very sturdy! The saddles go on and come off pretty easily too.I found it easiest to load the kayaks by pulling it into the bed then slide up onto the front saddle and push forward till the back clears the bar. Then you can set into the back saddle and slide backwards into place until centered. Comes with two different style tie downs; ratchet straps or pully straps (which I used the pully straps but they don’t seem as reliable as ratchet straps).*helpful hint: you can’t go through a drive-thru with kayaks loaded as they are too tall. I can make it in and out of our garage (we have 8ft doors) with just the rack but not with the saddles attached.I am very pleased with this rack.
