This tool does not do a very good job of cutting wire. It doesn’t cut cleanly through the wire with one squeeze as it should. Even after sharpening it I wasn’t happy with the results.

I have been occasionally using these cutters for less than a year. I have only used them on aluminum wire. The tip of one blade has mashed down so that in order to get a complete cut, the bark of the tree gets damaged. Stainless steel doesn’t work for wire cutting.

Budget priced and budget quality wire cutters. I needed an extra set of wire cutters for de-wiring my bonsai. These are usable on thinner gauge aluminum wire.They are listed as durable and coated or hardened. I find they are showing silver (under the black coated jaws) after several uses. The jaws are showing "nicks" on the inner cutting areas. Okayish but Very Usable hobby grade wire cutters for Aluminum Wire.

Even the so called bonsai masters don't need to spend any more on a wire cutter than this. If you're only cutting aluminum wire these are just as good as any other out there. As a retired machinist I am knowledgeable about all types of tools an I highly recommend these cutters. If people are looking at your tools instead of your bonsai maybe you need a new hobby. Some people are tool snobs and they're usually the ones who don't know how to use them.
