Ok, first I’m in the northeast US, where deadly snakes are not a thing, though we have plenty of non deadly ones. So take this review for what it’s worth… I’m not handling rattlers. My ten year old son and I love watching Coyote Peterson and other animal handlers who treat these animals kindly for observation, and my son particularly loves picking them up by hand. We do have some non-poisonous snakes like the Northern Water Snake, which will give a nasty bite (and it’s been hard to keep my son away). He is SO excited to have this. It allows him to learn how to handle them in a calm way that won’t hurt them, or him. So far it’s only garter snakes, but when the next water snake wanders by, I’m sure he’ll be in for a thrill. Also, it’s a great tool to have around for when you need to relocate one… so much better than my garden rake, which could hurt the snake (and I’m not a fan of them). The pole is well made. The telescoping function works well, and fastens tightly into place. The handle is comfortable, and the hook seems to be of good quality. It’s a great tool.Recommend!

this is a nice snake hook. the fiberglass tubing feels adequate but like all things, they have their breaking limits. i was surprised at how firm and sturdy the hook is. with that said, the pole end that holds the hook was not epoxied very well and slipped off. after some JB Weld to re-glue the pole end, it is very firm.where we are at rattle snakes are common, and this works very well. i was able to apply enough pressure to hold down mohave rattlers. that like to whip around like crazy. i have no hesitancy or doubts in the ability of this hook on most snakes we encounter.

The first time I used the snake hook it caught on a sticker bush and the entire hook attachment fell off. Clearly was held on by a only small dab of glue. Caveat emptor.
