I was originally frustrated that this snake tong doesn't have a lock on the grip to assist with holding a snake.It turns out all snake tongs are like this. They have a lock, but it is in the CLOSED position, and therefore; offers no assistance while actually holding onto a snake.I wish that at least one manufacturer would consider adding some sort of assistance for those of us who have arthritis or weak hand strength, that would allow us to grab the snake and then set the tongs to a lock position that holds the snake without having to continually add pressure via a grip.I recently used a not a snake tong to catch a 4 foot snake, and it was very difficult to keep hold of that big fella. I was very concerned that I might do damage to the poor thing because I was gripping so hard with both hands, while my husband drove us to a good place to release the rascal. That snake was after my chicken eggs and had taken up residence in the coop.I will update this review, when the next snake gets in my hen house.
