Not great. The screw heads are weak and easily stripped. Loose and keeps going out of tune too fast

I like that they provided everything you need to move forward with your DIY plan. Installing a new arrangement changes the guitar tuning dynamic in a big way. You wind up with great results, if you it correctly. One key thing is, avoid having to drill holes entirely. Get guitar keys that fit the current drill holes on the guitar. If you must drill, don't drill too deep. Keep it on the shallow side so the screws can get a good grip into the wood.

In full transparency, I ordered these because I wanted to replace the semicircular tuning buttons on a guitar that already had decent 3x3 tuning machines. Buying the full set was cheaper than buying buttons separately. So for me, these served my purposes well because I simply swapped the buttons on the existing tuning machines. I'd rate them 5 out of 5 if it were just for that. However, this review is for the full set of tuning machines and if I were to install these as a complete set on my guitar, I'd have to dock them several stars due to two main concerns:First, the machines themselves are not very smooth. All six have an almost grainy feel when turning the buttons. Further, the effort required to turn the varies wildly at various points in the cycle for four of the tuners; in other words, for half a turn it is very easy to turn, for the other half it is very tough (one is so tight that I was concerned it would break if I forced it). Since these are not sealed tuners, you can easily remove the cover to see how the gears are meshing, and the four that are difficult to turn are clearly grinding the finish and some of the metal off the screw gear when this happens, so clearly the internal parts are not machined very precisely. I would not install these on a guitar for that reason alone.Second, the chrome / stainless metal finish is not consistent on all parts of the assembly. The tuning button and back cover are high-polish, 'white' chrome, wheras the tuning peg and the button shaft - i.e., the round parts - are of a duller nickel finish. They're not way off, but off enough that it just looks "off." Naturally, if you prefer a guitar design that intentionally mismatches colors / finishes for an eclectic look, this could be acceptable to you, but even so, I think there are less "cheap" looking ways to achieve that look (especially given the functional issues above).Generally, I'm unimpressed with these as tuning machines and would not install them on an actual guitar. But as I said, for cannibalizing the tuning buttons, they served my purposes.
