I like that fact that I can leave it strapped to my tackle bag while fishing off a pier or boat. Seems decently accurate on measurements, and doesn’t take up much space. Probably buy another one for a friend of mine soon.

Portable easy to use and clean for measuring your PB’s out on the water as it can easily measure up to 53" size fish.

I like the small size and form factor of this, but I'm not positive it will work for us (fishing on a small Wahoo center console skiff). We were using a small bump board and a couple of measuring tapes mounted on the gunwales (hull sides) but sometimes that's not helpful with a flipping flopping summer flounder or tautog needing measuring. If this doesn't work as a flexible ruler, I may end up mounting it to a home-made bump board using a cutting board and some hinges

This vinyl ruler seems like it should last a while. It's got some nice features, like a smaller ruler for panfish, a bump board for the fish's head, and a carabiner to clip to your pack or a leash. Big easy to read numbers, and it's not covered in ads and junk to distract from your picture. Pretty unbeatable for the price, I think.

I got this roll-up fish ruler to measure the fish I catch while fishing on the boat. There are a couple things to look for in a ruler: easy & quick to use, accurate, and easy to store. This ruler meets them all. When rolled out on a flat surface, the ruler is a bump-board, where there is a vertical section at 0” where can push the nose of the fish against to get an accurate read on the length at the tail. This makes it both quick and easy. The markings are accurate and the material appears to be dimensionally stable so the length shouldn’t change. Lastly, it rolls up nicely [unlike the metal bump-board rulers], has a Velcro-like strap to keep it rolled up, and a mesh bag for compact, easy storage – where space is at a premium on the boat. Of note is that the material does not retain the curl when unrolled. The only downsides I see are the numbering and the length. The numbers are visible, but there are special marks a 10” boundaries when we are used to seeing special marks at the foot or 12” boundaries. In the heat of the moment, this could cause some confusion and become an issue. The other is the overall length: 53 inches or almost 4.5 feet. It’s hard for me to imagine a situation where a roll-up ruler that long would be required, or useful – if the fish really are that large, then I think you’d be using a different type of ruler. On a typical fishing boat, you’d be hard-pressed to find a large enough flat space to roll it out fully. Likely any boat big enough, or where fish that large are expected, again, they would have a different type of ruler. Fortunately, the material is easy to cut down to a more manageable length like 36” for me and my boat. But these two issues do make me deduct a half a star, and I choose to round down in this case. The price for this fish ruler at the time of this review is $16, a fairly good price for a decent, if not perfect, fish ruler.

This 53-inch fish ruler stands out with its wide, durable design, making it far more versatile than a typical fishing tape measure. The bump board at one end helps position fish for accurate and hassle-free measurements, and the bold, easy-to-read numbers are a great touch. It’s foldable, waterproof, and a breeze to clean — perfect for clipping to the outside of my fishing backpack for quick access. While I prefer a firm metal measuring board for kayak fishing, I'll be taking this 8-inch wide tape measure with me whenever I shore fish with my backpack.

When I go fishing along the coast I can be moving down a beach, a jetty, a bridge, etc. so weight and space are at a premium. I love this tool because it’s super lightweight and very well made. The “tape” rolls up easily into the metal bump board, gets secured with its velcro and you can then put it into its storage bag or just clip the carabiner. It’s well made, very sturdy and super easy to clean off when done.I just can’t believe how large this thing is and how light and compact it stores away so I took a couple of pictures. The first picture shows the ruler stored in its bag next to a standard 300 yard spool of line and the next shows it unrolled and ready for action. All in all, this ruler is solidly made and should last a long time. In addition, being so portable and at this price point, makes it a definite recommend to buy for me!
