Great for chicken run

I used this in conjunction with a wiggle wire kit. In the past, I've had to double and triple layer the run- Not with this stuff.

  • Red mulch can absorb sunlight and increase plant temperature, helping to promote plant growth and produce earlier.

  • I was able to stretch it tight and stable it in place on a vertical attic wall. Now I do not need to worry about loose fiberglass floating in the attic area.

  • I picked this out for my backyard trellis, so that it can be a temporary greenhouse in winter; this tarp is about the right size for a door flap!

It is translucent so the weeds flourish under the "greenhouse" it creates. You put the mulch down plant the tomatoes and the weeds just explode under the plastic and you can't weed under it. The photo's they show of this product are downright deceiving. Do not buy this "mulch "unless you want to lay on the ground and pull weeds from under it!!!

Good plastic so far for tomatoes. Wish there was little holes in it to let water thru. That’s the only con.

Red plastic increases fruit production of tomatoes and strawberries when placed on the soil and it also reduces weed competition

My wife ordered this red mulch ( 2 mill thick Red PE plastic film) from the Warmfarm Store to help with improving the odds of a good crop on a couple of her garden growing efforts this summer. This red plastic will help by holding in some of the ground heat generated by the direct sunlight (too few hours) as well as reduce evaporation during the warmer and dry summer days. When it stops raining we will probably have glorious sunny dry days for about 3 months. That is most of our summer on SW Washington, and in addition we are surrounded by 130 ft. tall Douglas Fir trees. So we need all the help we can get! We’ve had this plastic for awhile now because in March it was cold and raining every day.Summer just seemed a long way off and now that May has arrived it is finally warm enough to plant a few things that she started from seeds in the house and greenhouse out into the ground, however it is still raining 3 or 4 days in the week which just keeps the ground cold and mostly unworkable. I was disappointed that for the price this Red 2 mill PE plastic film did not have any perforations as some she had purchased a few years ago, but the 4 x 25 ft roll was just about the perfect size for the single row of tomatoes 🍅 she decided to use it on. “RED” is supposed to promote better growth of fruit in some plants like strawberries, tomatoes, etc. I don’t know how much the color really helps over just using a clear or black plastic but this is what we are going with this year. Perforations were added using a pitchfork, probably a lot bigger than really desirable and more than required to prevent water from pooling on top of the film, however no argument that the ground can also breathe a bit with these holes popped into the film as well. This time of year we also wrap the tomato cages with plastic film and cover the top so they don’t get too much direct rain. Then we are set to roll as the ground temperature stays warmer due to the plastic film. It won’t really be that long until we are out enjoying handfuls of sweet cherry tomatoes and begin drying, stewing and giving away the produce which suddenly ( it seems) appears and ripens to perfection. OK, the perfection is a relative term but since these are all from our own labors they are fully appreciated and that becomes the perfect achievement.Thank you Red plastic for helping us realize that together this year.

Ordered this 2 Mil Red Plastic Mulch Film Embossed Red Grow Film hoping to use it this year on my tomato plants. Up here in the northern lattitues we need all the help we can get to convince them to finish before the frost comes. The plastic film arrived wrapped in a thick plastic bag with a inventory tag and taped together. No other branding or product information is included. I can't tell how thick the product is, 2 mill is probably about accurate, it feels to me a little bit thicker than a kitchen bag, like a outdoor leaf bag but not anywhere near as thick as a contractor bag. I can't imagine it would last more than one season. I didn't notice and should have but the plastic is not perforated anywhere, its just a 4 foot sheet of red plastic, will have to run drip lines under it perhaps or a dripper right at the base of the plant. Folded up 4 foot piece of red thin plastic tarp basically. I can't imagine it will stop weeds on it's own so will try to put some landscape fabric under it then this plastic. The plastic I have used in the past for weed mitigation in the garden and used for multiple seasons is about 5 times this thick, but also much more expensive. Not a very well branded or packaged product but it appears to be as advertised. Though they should remove the 4x50 foot from the description if they are selling different sizes.

I love growing tomatoes, and found out years ago that red mulching film under the tomato plants would stimulate growth. I proved it to myself by using it on some of my tomatoes the first year, but not on all of them. The red film tomatoes were significantly bigger, sturdier and more productive. So I've been using it ever since. Lots of places sell similar film, and I'm sure they all work pretty much the same, but Amazon had the best price.

I ordered this 2 Mil Red Plastic Mulch Film to help warm my tomato beds here in northern Indiana. I've use black plastic, but heard the red might work better.I was very surprised at how thin it is compared to the black I usually order. No way is it 2ml thick!I do not think that this is going to be effective as a weed barrier because it is so thin. Our Hoosier weeds are strong willed and I'm sure that they will poke right through there.

I am happy with this item. TBH, I do not understand what people who gave this more negative reviews expected. This is a red plastic film in the weight I knew I was getting. The listing clearly states this is 2 mil film. The purpose of this film is to reflect red light under tomatoes. This needs to be of sufficient strength to be able to be laid down without being torn. It also needs be not so thick that it is easy to create a hole for your plants and tack it down with stakes or dirt. As far as not having holes - that is the way it is supposed to be. For people complaining that light can penetrate the film, I think that is a good thing. You want some light to penetrate a little. This is how the soil warms up (look up the color of film for solarizing - it is clear or almost clear). If someone wants landscape fabric, which is intended to be an actual weed barrier, to last multiple season and have holes for water penetration, this is not that type of product.
