One half has a lag thread wood screw with a pointed tip, and the other half has standard machine thread with a blunt tip. Commonly used to hang wiring and ceiling hooks, the assembly is complete when the lag end is screwed into a pre-drilled hole.

I am using these to hold on some storm shutters with the same existing holes that were for the screws that border the aluminum frames of my home's windows. I would prefer stainless steel for this job but only the larger bolts are stainless and those are too large for my application. I will grease them because my tropical climate will certainly corrode these bolts. I need to find some cap nuts to protect the ends and I believe that cap nuts would be the easiest way to drive these into the existing holes now occupied by sheet metal hex head screws. No room for wing nuts in my application. The price is OK for this small size.

I had some adorable knobs left over from replacing the plain old ones on the various cabinets and drawers in my bathroom, so I asked my friend what I'd need to use those knobs, screwed into a stud, for hanging towels, etc. It was these, and they did the trick!

We were at a loss of how to attach a cabinet knob to a pull out shelf that is solid. We checked locally and with Fastenal and no one had a bolt this size. It worked perfectly.

To drive the bolt into the wood, I put two nuts on the threaded end and tightened them against one another. Next, I used a socket wrench to drive the other end in. Once it was in, two open end wrenches loosened the two nuts and I removed them.
