We had a table leg that had been fixed one too many times. Each time they used a bigger and bigger wood screw. It was finally time to fix it right! I took an oversized dowel and whittled it down to fit snug and glued it in, and then let it dry 24 hours and cut it flush. Then I cut an Amazon box to hold the leg at a 45 degree angle so I could drill a pilot hole. Then you thread 2 nuts together tight on one end of the hanger bolt and slowly screw it into the leg with a socket wrench, again on the Amazon box (don’t try to do in place on the table or it will be crooked!). Once the hanger bolt is screwed all the way in, take the 2 nuts off and install on the table as good as new!
