Okay I know you can by the one you mount on a wall, but try to take that to your car or project to check the size of the hole you might be missing a bolt in. This product allows you to do just that and worth the extra money. I used it today to check the size of a bolt hole for the inner fender well for a car I was working on. This worked perfectly. I really like this product and I think I will make a hanger off of my tool box to hang this on since I know I will be using this a lot in the future. Worth every penny.

Pretty nice set. Comprehensive. Markings easy to read, compared to a Made in USA set, checked out. Note these aren't for QC-ing threads, just Id-ing them.

I have a pile of random screws that I'd like to organize, so I went looking for a thread checker set. This was the best compromise I could find, with most kits not having the smaller sizes like M2 and 2-56, and many of those that did being 2-3x the size/price and included things like M24 (for when I want to mount a streetlamp...?).The kit itself is good, with a decent case (albeit branded with the utter nonsense "SNSMBNSR" - really wish Amazon would do something about this faceroll absurdity...) and what feels like a decent foam insert with reasonable spacing and labels. The thread checkers themselves feel solid and look well-made, with decent anodizing and lettering (though it looks to be surface-printed only, not etched). My main problem (-1 star) with this set (and all the others I found) is that the selection doesn't really cut it on the small end. I would much rather have a comprehensive kit of small sizes, and if I needed it a separate kit of larger sizes - basically the entire middle row of the largest sizes in this kit would be in this category.Of the pile of screws I have here, there's a full cross-section of sizes and threads, a *lot* of which are in the right size range but don't fit the checkers in this kit. Specifically, every single US size has both coarse and fine thread, but this kit is missing 2-64, 4-48, 6-40, and 8-36. It's also very common to find M2.5 and M3.5 screws, though I'm not sure how common the [ultra?] fine pitches are in metric. I'm also not sure how common 3-48, 3-56, 5-44 and 5-48 are, but for a complete small-size selection it couldn't hurt...There's also a quality-control problem (-1 star) that I'm hoping will be resolved with a replacement kit from Amazon, and that is I have two 10-32 checkers and no 6-32. This is a bit of a problem since of the pile of screws I have in front of me right now, there appear to be quite a few of that size....

Came in handy the first day I received this kit. Makes more sense for me than the units attached to a cable. As a handyman a variety of situations arise when I need to find the correct fastener size and thread. Could be a loose fastener (one you can have in your hand)or attached to an appliance, light fixture, furniture etc. Nice and light to carry around and easy to read the size and thread pitch!

**TLDR:** The CNSMBNSR 46-piece thread checker has a dumb name, but is a handy thread checker with both English and metric options. It's lightweight, made from anodized aluminum, and works well for most needs. Great for checking threads on items you can't bring to the store.---**Review:****Product Overview:**The CNSMBNSR 46-piece thread checker might have a not-so-great name, but it definitely does its job well. It's super handy to have both English and metric checkers in one set, and the color matching is a nice touch so you won't get your Enlish and metric mixed up.**Design & Quality:**One of the best things is that it's not all attached to one board. This means you can easily take them to the threads you want to check on different devices. They're made of aluminum, probably not the most expensive kind, but honestly, you don't need anything more than that for this purpose. They're anodized, so there's no extra thickness for the nice coloring. Anodizing is one my favorite way of getting color onto anything. Very nice.**Performance:**In my spot-checking, they matched all the bolts they were supposed to. While it's not the most extensive set out there, 46 pieces should be enough for most people. It's one of those tools where high-end quality isn't necessary, and it works really well for what it is. Most important for quality, is that they have clean threads, so no grit is going to get in the way of checking your threads.**Recommendation:**I highly recommend this thread checker if you're in the market for one. It's nice to have at home, even though my local hardware store has one. The best part is being able to check threads on items that you can't bring to the store. Overall, it's a great tool to have around.
