Making candles with this clear wax yields SO many amazing possibilities. I've been making candles with dried flowers and crystals, but there's so much more people can put into these, depending on their tastes.Everything needed, for the most part, is included in this kit, and the cost is really low considering, making it a great value. I had never heard of nor seen gel for making candles before. I love making candles with this as I love the little 3d worlds that I can create, using this.Seems like making these at higher temps than what is in the instructions is the way to go, where there are less bubbles and it's clearer.

I finally tried the gel wax and it works pretty well! I mixed it with normal colorant and it worked pretty well!

This review is for: 2.2lb Gel Wax for "Candle Making, DIY Gel Candle Wax Handmade Jelly Wax Gel Candle for Candle Making with 50pcs Wicks2.2lb Gel Wax for Candle Making, DIY Gel Candle Wax Handmade Jelly Wax Gel Candle for Candle Making with 50pcs Wicks"I recently started making candles and am very disappointed with this gel.The gels to make candles are of different types, which need to be treated differently with regard to any items to add to the candles as well as the fragrances and their concentrations. There is no mention anywhere about the type of gel this is. The instructions are vague as well - at least if they were clear, I could follow them. They say 'heat to the 147 to 185 degrees F. That is quite a range - surely as they provided the gel, they should at least let us know the temperature? Different densities of gels require different quantities of fragrance oil - this could have been mentioned as well. The gel is delightfully squishy though and I use a piece as a fidget toy. Since I am new to candle making and a little leery of trying something without complete knowledge about the product, I did not melt this gel to make candles. Instead, I cut it to the appropriate thickness and sizes and fit them into my metal candle holders. I poked a hole through the center to place the wicks. Since the gel is not melted, they held their positions. I now light these after I am done cooking, to remove any lingering odors. I am pleased that they burn very slowly, lasting much longer than my other wax candles. (Pic is of this candle as well as the fidget toy). I would have given this fewer stars but since I can use the gel as make-shift candles, I only cut one star.

I have been attempting different ways of making candles and came across this gel wax and wanted to give it a try. I used an electric wax melter and this stuff melted quick, much faster than I was expecting. There are many videos of people using gel wax to make cool scenes - I am not one of those people. I put some aquarium rocks at the bottom of a 3 ounce jar, set the wick in, and poured the wax. There were a lot of bubbles in the wax - but I am just making these for fun and if I want fewer to no bubbles, that is something I am going to have to practice as well as using cotton wicks and not waxed wicks. I don't know if I would put anything in this wax because once it reached the rocks at the bottom, the flame got really big and it scorched the jar. That is most probably user error but I would still recommend making simple candles with this stuff. I will say that this burns for a LONG time - the two ounce candle I made (3 ounce jar with 1/3 filled with rocks) burned for 18 hours. It didn't take a lot of wax to make a two ounce candle so 2.2 pounds will give you plenty of wax to practice with and experiment with. This stuff is definitely trial and error - figuring out the best way to reduce bubbles, determining how much scent to use, etc. For recreational purposes, it was a lot of fun. For someone who knows what they are doing, it could still be very useful.

While the product offers a promising medium for crafting unique and translucent candles, I the instructions for this products the the biggest problem.I didn't receive any instructions, so I went back to look at the listing. Which only stated that the gel melts at temperatures higher than 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Following this guideline did yield usable candles; however I encountered a significant issue with bubbles forming within the gel.To address this, I experimented with higher temperatures , around 230-235, surprisingly I found that this higher temperature range resulted in a much clearer finished product with noticeably fewer bubbles.

I obtained this for my daughter as a gift. Here's what she reports back:There's a lot of wax in this kit, which is a good thing, because I'm new to candle making. I don't really know how gel wax differs from "regular" wax (or paraffin), but this melted quickly, was easy to pour, and was easy to use with the included wicks. The only thing I noticed was that the melted wax had quite a few bubbles. I suspect that was because I heated it up too quickly. This will surely take some experimentation to optimize, but I really enjoy making candles, and my first ones came out well enough, though not perfectly! The gel wax DOES burn a long time! I made a medium-sized candle that burned nearly a full day! That's a big plus. And at about $30 for the entire kit, wax, wicks and wick stickers, it's a pretty reasonable price. I'll save a lot of money on candles. Plus, it's a lot of fun.Recommended.
