spreads smoother and easier than its competitor, and I have waxed a lot of things.

I purchased this product as an alternative to a more expensive name brand wax that was recommended by the manufacturer of an outdoor clothing line I like. It does take quite a bit of time to apply and melt into the fabric but it is worth the effort. I've only used it on pants but I think it would work on any outer layer clothing and canvas outdoor equipment.

I have a 4 oz lightweight Barbour jacket that needed re-waxing. I was unable to find the Barbour wax in stock anywhere. There were a couple of options available on Amazon, this and Otter brand. I chose this as it was a slightly larger bar at a lower price.Waxing was a simple process, rub this on the fabric as evenly as possible, and then melt (and rub more with my fingers) in with a heat gun. A hairdryer can also be used but a heat gun works more quickly. It was very easy and the wax was easy to work with. Results were good if not a little uneven. After letting the jacket sit a couple days, which I was able to completely even out the wax by turning the jacket inside out, and tumble drying on high heat for about 15 minutes, after which the jacket came out looking like new. I used a little less than 1/2 the bar for a men's Lg jacket.

Good quality at a good price, but don't be make the same mistake as me and think the 3-ounce bar is enough for a canvas jacket that hasn't been waxed before. I got about a quarter of the canvas waxed before I ran out and had to buy more. It's probably more than enough for touch ups, a rewaxing, or small items but not enough for a large jacket

Bought this as it was quicker than the original stuff i bought to wax my canvas Levi's jacket. Other stuff did leave it stiffer and darker but repels water much better and gave it the rustic look I was going for. The cobblers choice I put 4-5 applications on and it doesn't feel like its on as well. Has a funk to it also, almost like hay or dead leaves. Personally will try something else before I go with this again

Good wax for water repellent easy to use and lasts a good amount of time. Light wax smell, dirt sticks to it.

Trying to figure out how to best re-proof the moisture and wind resistance to my motorcycle jacket after washing the original wax finish out of it. Scotchgarding is okay if you want to gas yourself out with those CFC aerosols, but if you want to add wind resistance in addition to moisture resistance then this is the way to go! All natural and the results are phenomenal. I applied mine by hand rubbing the bar onto the fabric leaving a generous coat, then used my heat gun (hair dryer works too) to melt the product into the fabric. Voila! Fill those fabric pores to repel water and wind.

I used this wax to treat an Outback Trading Co. duster and hat I have had for over 25 years. They mainly see use as rain gear and this year noticed some moisture coming through both. Read reviews on several products and settled on this but also noticed a good deal of techniques discussed and a wide range of outcomes. Just thought I would share what worked for me.Took both hat and coat out back on a warm (mid 90’s) day and set them in the sun on a ironing board. Letting the coat and hat warm up and stay in the sun allowed the wax to melt into them properly and apply easily. In my opinion this is the way to do it if you can stand the heat yourself. I tried to stay on the edge of the shade so I could mostly stand in it while the coat and hat took full sun. When done I had about a quarter of the bar left for touch ups or another project. No need to over complicate things. Rub it in good with the bar and work it into cracks and seams with your fingers. If anything, the wax is good for your skin also. Give it some time to dry out before packing it away for the summer and you’re done. Good product. I recommend it and will use it again.

I needed to re-wax some camera bags and lens pouches, and I purchased this based on the [mostly] excellent reviews. The wax was very easy to use for a first-timer; the wax is soft and doesn't require heat (but will need heat to "set" it) which makes it easy to apply and get a nice, even coat.Once you've applied it, you can "massage" it in with your fingertips to even it out (the wax is soft and starts melting as soon as you handle it, so rubbing it in makes it easy to get an even coat of wax) before setting it with a hair dryer or heat gun. If you have one, a heat gun is a much better (and quicker) approach.Overall, great for the price! Also note: as others have mentioned, the tin will probably open during transit, but the wax bar is wrapped in paper, so it'll usually be okay (If you're worried, have it shipped separately).

Great product. Easy to use, but small in size and for average sized items to be waxed require at least three tins.
