I looked up the install procedure online before opening the package; it apparently requires a 60 lb bag of Quickrete, a large hole, and of course something to mix the Quickrete in that can then dump it into the hole. NONE OF THIS INFORMATION is included in the product description! I assumed, since it was described as an “in-ground post” that I could just get out my heavy sledge hammer and pound it in. It takes a LOT MORE WORK than implied in the description. Also recommended is placing a plastic-wrapped, pressure treated 4x4 wood post and sliding the post on top of it, for a total dig depth of 28 inches, so that the wood post is 28 inches deep, and the mailbox post is twelve inches deep, with cement all around both. If I have to buy a wood post anyway, why do I need a cosmetic trim on it? I could have just gotten a wood post and painted it. Off to the big box hardware store to get cement and a post, very disappointed.

This in ground mounting post does look good and goes well with a metal mailbox. I do prefer metal over wood so this post works just fine. The installation really straight forward and too much time consuming. It is not cheap though and wood would cost you much less, but if you really want to go with a metal mailbox post this would be a good one to get.

When I signed up to try this product, I thought it was a metal post for a mailbox, and it would need to be mounted into the ground. Waiting for delivery, I started to worry that it wasn't long enough as 43 inches would be the USPS minimum for ground height for rural delivery. However, what wasn't clear to me until receiving the item, is that this is a metal sleeve that goes around your traditional wooden 4x4 post, but has a mailbox mount on top. So, it was perfect. I did have to construct something to extend the box out from the post more to satisfy the Post Master, but that wasn't such a hard thing to do. We've had 4x4 posts, despite being pressure treated, get pretty beat up from weather and winter road crew over the years, so the metal sleeve should help this particular post last a lot longer. I like it, and despite the short length and a post box extension, I would still suggest it.

The post arrived a couple days after the box that goes on top did. Amazon sent a message saying both were delivered when only the box had arrived. I called Adoorn and spoke with a person who assured me that the post was on its way and because of the odd shape it was shipped separately. When it did arrive, it was worth the wait…

This post is made well from heavy-duty steel. It is easy to set it up using the included instructions. It looks nice and holds our steel mailbox. Overall, this is a well-made, heavy-duty mailbox post!!!
