The metal had very sharp edges that I had to spend time so I dont get cut

My only complaint is that the narrow end needs either a roundover or needs to come to more of a point - getting the wedge into a tight space with that very abrupt front edge was a challenge.

The finish of these is terrible. They did not finish the job. It appears that they were cut on a band saw. the process left large, sharp burs, that should have been removed as part of the manufacturing process. See the attached photo.I can fix this but I should not have to.

First the bad. They had dangerously sharp burrs, razor like, that pose serious injury potential. I have posted photos of the burr, and the surface finish. The surface finish was very rough, although it probably wouldn't make much difference for their intended use. They are not not stainless steel, they appear to be hot rolled medium steel. The exterior surfaces have a hot rolled appearance and characteristics, with a dark/black coating that is pretty hard, not "silvery" as advertised. They also exhibited some glass like deposits that I have never seen on hot rolled before, I had to chisel it off to level the outside surfaces. My file wouldn't easily cut the coating and had no effect on the deposits. The only advantage to the rough sawn interior surface is that it tends to prevent side slip when pressure is applied vertically, as long as you keep them in matched pairs. My opinion is that they would serve okay as rough levelling pads, and wedges, after thorough deburring. They are not suitable for any kind of precision work. I spent about 3/4 of an hour scraping the razor like edges off, and deburring and chamfering all of the edges and corners to make them hand-safe. While doing that I accidentally touched my forearm to one of the razor like burrs, causing a pretty bloody laceration. I didn't even feel it at first, and only noticed it when I saw blood dripping on my bench. I gave them two stars due to the completely unfinished and dangerous condition I received them in. They also seem to be a bit overpriced for what they are, and due to their dangerous cut hazard.

Great raw stock for projects. This is raw stock and will require further processing and deburing. I needed something to level a water heater. Will debur, sand, prime and paint these an aluminum color. Once finished, they will easily shim the water heater and be unnoticeable.

I can't imagine a company sending out a product this unfinished. Every edge was razor sharp, some edges with shavings from presumably being cut from a larger piece of steel. Shoddy workmanship at best. Giving two stars because at this price they are economical. I happen to have a woodshop/ machine shop in my basement, and 10 minutes on my grinder will clean these up. However I shouldn't have to do that. I do not recommend these shims.

Metal shavings galore when I opened the package. They came spilling out with the package. There are super sharp edges peeling and half stuck on and they can’t be manipulated by hand. I got these to use for craft events as shims on uneven ground but I just can’t handle them at all because of the unfinished product and potential to slice me open. Not a fan.
