I am Very pleased with the Quality of this set of bits, finish, sharpness overall quality, comparing them to a older set identical Delta I own probably 20 years old the finish is every bit as good and reasonably sharp ready to use but not that a honing and some light polish wouldn’t improve on as most woodworking cutting tools can be improved upon. A good option for a reasonable price, glad I spotted them

I specifically bought these because they are advertised by the seller as being made in Switzerland and they are made in Taiwan! Photo of box attached as proof of where they are made. I bought a cheap set of the $50 Chinese made ones and returned them because of very inferior quality. So I wanted a better set and was willing to spend extra $$ to buy them and so I got these based on the stated country of manufacturing. Not the case!! I have sent a notice to Amazon about this so let's see if they change it on their web page.Overall the quality is not to bad. Better than the Chinese set. These do cut a good, accurate mortise so I'll keep them. (My first cuts were through white oak and the cuts were clean) They were rather noisy and tend to chatter a bit when used right out of the box. I found that lubricating the shank of the auger bit where it spins/slides inside the mortise housing with some wheel bearing grease helps considerably with the chattering.

These are high quality cutters and required no sharpening right out of the box in order to use as with other brands. Recommended!!

I have bought items from amazon for years, but this is the first time I have written a review.Be warned the finish quality on this set is terrible. Mortise bits aren’t something I would use everyday, but I do enjoy building furniture. I value both quality and price, so I thought this would be a good middle of the road choice. When I unwrapped them, I immediately noticed the deep machining marks on the faces of each bit. No problem, I will just polish those up on a wet stone. After 15 minutes, I thought why am I wasting my time, let’s put these in the machine and see how it works.Instead of nice square holes, the holes had rounded edges. After closer examination I noticed the auger bit’s point was dead centered on the bit, which caused it to wobble and cut rounded edges.I broke out my calipers just to double check some measurements. On the half inch bit, there was 0.020 difference in the sides. That was it for me - these things had to go. All of these issues are fixable if you want to spend several hours per bit polishing them up and re-sharpening the bit to the center, but I would rather spend those hours building furniture. On the plus side it had a nice case.My suggestion is to pass on these, order the $4 3/4” shank adapter and go buy some bits from powermatic or Lee valley. I got the powermatic bits and even though they are double the price, the finish is far far superior.

I have Sears Mortising Attachment catalog number 9-25255 and aSears drill press Model 113.213150These Delta mortising chisels and bits fit perfectly on my Sears equipment and work quite well.Good news as 5/8 shank mortising chisels don't seem to be available from Sears.

bought these as replacements for my Delta 14-650 mortiser. It is getting harder to find any that will fit it with the 5/8" shank on the chisels. My original ones were much higher quality and made in Austria. These were made in Taiwan. Much lower quality than the originals. They work, but not as cleanly. the 3/8" set is the only one I've used so far and the fit between the bit and chisel as not as good as the Austrian ones making it a little noisier. I may make a new adapter bushing for it so I can get 3/4" shank chisels to fit in it. they are more readily available.
